Wow hunter just don't say things like that. Those trucks appeal to o/o's with there looks do your research they aren't wannabe Pete's ever ride in A XL neither have I so shut up before you say anything some have to drive whatever to pay the bills, even if it isn't a largecar so don't say A classic is A wannabe Pete the XL get's the job done doesn't it talk to owner not operater really don't say anything if you have never even drove A truck back on topic. Were looking at alot of T600,s my dad wants one with Detroit because of mpg what could be a better way to get mpg's out of A kitty.

So it's how fast you go we run about 65-70. Depends on speed limit Ive seen on this forum almost everyone with A kitty put's that 550 heavy haul program.

Thanks for all the info fellas... well its been two years since I asked for your opinions and I had decided to go with the T600. I am so glad I did. With its Cummins N14, 13 Speed Transmission, 3.55 rears, I consistently average 7+ MPG, at 60-65 mph, 1300-1400 rpm. This truck with this motor hasn't given me any problems. Hasn't been in the shop once. It has 1.2 million miles, and runs great. However it is developing a oil leak, which I need to address. But the interior is very quiet, the VIT package is very nice, it has 18 guages, day light doors, sunroof, one piece windshield, easy reach dash, electric windows, heated and power mirrors, smart wheel, dual spot lights, 72" Aero-cab sleeper and a full fairing kit. And I only paid $13500 for it.
However, now I would like a W900L with a studio sleeper, with the same or similar specs. I've found an 03' with a ISX (non-EGR). My question is, what kind of performance should I expect from this truck? It has a 13spd, with 3.58 rears... I just love those W900's...

Luis,
The Classic, T600, and W900 are all good trucks. However: Paccar products have a higher resale and last longer. In addition, a 01-02 T6 with a C15 pre acert, pre emissions, and pre bridge will be your best bet. I have no experience with a N14 cummins nor a Detroit. Just Cat engines. Even a W9 can be fuel efficient,; just ask 550W900L.
However, if you have a KW or Pete equiped with a Detroit in it already, you could more than likely put in a DD15, which should get excelent mpg's.

I think we have the pre bridge in our 2003 t600 it's a single turbo kitty. It has 685k miles, very good for the price we had it bumped up to 475 since it was governed at 435hp and 60 or 65mph.The DD15 not so shure about it detriot is a good engine when it want's to this cat better last over a million miles. It has the 72 aero cab studio slepper package sunroof full fairings. The t600 should have a better ride than our century, had it's a little bit smaller in the cab but we dont need all that space.Hunter our engine is a pre emmision it's an 03 pre acert a great choice but how many mpg's will we average?.Stay with that t600 same as a w900 but you don't have the looks you do have the mpg's the w900 lack's just keep your t600 these are tough times I would just stay, put but hey if you want to buy it go for it I think you can probably get it cheap.

luis, my friend averages between 5.9 and 6.5 in his 99' 379 with no add ons or doo dah's. Also, hes running a 3406E set at 475HP and 1750ft of torque. I'd like to know the mileage of a 387. They are good trucks and i am surprised our op didn't look at one.

In that situation I would take the Frieghtliner, longer hood, better engine and geard better, lighter too.I think Kenworth is a better truck. Here is a suggestion find a different truck....a KW with a cat and geard better.

I'd go for a 02 387 with a C15 Cat, 10spd, and 3.55 rears. However, A freightliner Columbia and Century would be good choices too along with ex Swift Volvo VNL670's.
