I've been scouring the net and this forum looking for info on the 007 Kenworth. It seems that there is very little info available on the net about these trucks. I am curious as to how many of these were actually built (read somewhere that only 50 were made but that seems low). The 2 or 3 I see regularly around Edmonton are all long hoods but was it ever offered as a standard "B" model?

If I remember right, they were all long hoods,
AModelCat Thanks this. -
The limited edition is really only a paint job and a 10 inch longer hood. It was the introduction of the 130" cab from the standard 120" aerodyne W900B. The LE came out in July of 89 and the worthington900L came out in October of 89.
From Ed Wallace, Kenworth's general sales and marketing manager
"The Limited Edition also introduces Kenworth’s Extended Hood option, adding a full 10-inches to the hood, giving the truck a powerful, classic appearance. The Extended Hood will now be offered as an option on all Kenworth W900Bs.
Drivers who enjoy the traditional look, will now be able to have the latest in technology along with the bold appearance of the longer hood and the 60-inch AERODYNE sleeper (standard with the Limited Edition). “The Extended Hood celebrates classic trucking with a full 130-inch bumper to back of cab dimension.”
Extended Hood models feature power steering using Cat, Cummins or Detroit Diesel engines. Customers have a choice of 9, 10, 13, 15 and 18 speed transmissions. Featuring tandem rear axles, the new model also has Kenworth Air Glide 100 rear suspension for a smoother, more comfortable ride."
As for your question about the standard "B" model,
Taken from the 007 Limited Edition brochure;
" the 007 Limited Edition of the Kenworth W900B Aerodyne. For starters, it's got a one-of-a-kind paint design. Then you can opt for the 120-inch BBC (Bumper to Back of Cab) or the new 130-inch extended hood version."
As for a count thats a tough one, from my understanding there are no special serial numbers used for the 007s as for a number, I read 250, but who really knows? Only Kenworth perhaps.
So all W900Ls are in fact just W900Bs with the extra 10 inches of hood. The only difference in the 007 version and my 93 W900L is the paint, gold KW pieces, 007 plaques and a chrome battery/tool box. Otherwise it is the same W900B 130-inch aerodyne Kenworth.
Doubt I helped any, just adding my 2 cents. My question is what does the L mean? Longer, Lenny, Lummper, Limited... idkAModelCat Thanks this. -
I think the L is just a term someone thought up to distinguish the long and standard hood lengths and it just stuck. From what I've looked in to, all W900's built after '82 (with the exception of gliders up to I believe '84) were B models regardless of hood length. -
Thought this was a good excuse to bump an old thread.
