Globalism and different cultures are great when ordering take out but horrible for National policy. And that train looks like a hi speed way to spread Ebola. This debate y'all are having is clearly above my head.o_O

Here's part of the deal between China and the African continent. China plans to outsource 100,000,000 that's one-hundred million, low paying manufacturing jobs to Africa and they need the infrastructure to move all that Walmart type stuff to the customers by freeways, rail, ships. All this is part of their "Belt & Road Initiative" and "Maritime Silk Road" worldwide infrastructure program which is already in progress. They already have trains running to London,England from Shanghai.

Plus China is working a rail deal with Thailand. Problem is Thailand still runs a narrow gauge rail system. They are work on a rail system to support both type of trains.
When completed it will run from China Los Vietnam Cambodia also.. Kinda like the old silk road trail from years ago

Thanks for this post, or else I might have never known about it.
Awesome to see leaps and bounds of progress being made, and cooperation between nations.

Well money plays a big factor. China is offering to fiance the rail deal with Thailand. That has the Thais nervous on China's real interests.
Their rail system really does need to be updated. It is very out of date. Trust me I have ridden the rail service there.
But too much in fighting and under cover bribes have stalled things

I saw a map China made of the worldwide infrastructure projects going on. It's a world map of before and updated with progress made so far. It's a huge map of the world, then they put an overlay on top of it to show the new railroads, sea ports, freeways, airports. etc. and it's almost like watching magic.
China is building trains and shipping them to where they're needed worldwide. They're building a light train factory near Chicago and California also and then going to build the rail lines and subway lines for the trains. This creates good paying jobs for Americans.
China is building an electric car manufacturing plant in America; part will be in Mare Island,CA and part in Las Vegas,NV. The name is Faraday Future. The assembly plant in Las Vegas is under construction now at a cost of one billion dollars. Elon Musk did the same with Tesla; part of the plant in CA and part in Reno,NV. The reason both companies put part of the plant in CA is to be near Silicon Valley where the highly educated tech people work.

That's not cooperation. Pardon to Chinaman, China looks 100 to 500 years into the future. They will need Africa to take over the cheap walmart crap production for the now rich chinese who wont be caught working making 10 dollar coffee pots for us Americans. Eventually Africa will be a Chinese protectorate economically first and possibly Military. We have a Atlantic air field on a island called Lajes a few years ago, it's a tiny island but so vital for maritime security and survillence in wartime. The Chinese visited that Island about 10 years ago seeking to possibly buy it or otherwise gain that base which would secure NW Africa for them among other things.

I am not specifically a enemy of the Chinese but if we do not develop our gas fields to a level in about 150 years that Europe can buy from us at half of what they would pay China or Russia at that time then we stand to become a creditor nation when Africa also comes into the line to buy our gas to convert into a variety of fuels they will need.

China and Russia are scaling up very big and part of the problem with Syria and Iraq is a pipeline routing that is possible to Europe and or Africa while carefully bypassing Israel and NATO. Israel just found a pair of fields capable of sustaining her 600 plus years Egypt wants a peice of that pie. And so on.

The middle east is pretty much turning to salt as they pump the last of the oil. They are already moving on to Nat gas from Russia, and nuclear power to replace the end of oil. It might never be the end becuase we are developing small reactors that run on a form of salt and theoratically in the backyard of your home you can have enternal power that does not melt down at all. If you have millions of dollars to run the thing.

These are concepts that causes some people to do some thinking. And believe you me right or wrong or in between, there is a awful lot of thinking going on by people determined to secure a future for whatever Nation that has the bawls to make it happen hopefully without a war.

China is already in Africa. The Chinese Navy (PLA Navy) is building a base in Djibouti and it's the largest port facility in Djibouti. When I was there the only military I saw was French Foreign Legion.

That's not far from trouble areas with piracy etc. I would not be surprised if naval warships eventually patrol there from China. That would be quite the deployment even for them.

What makes me laugh is poor Iran, they send a frigate and a oiler to the US East coast trying to assert naval freedom etc. We should just sink em. And when they come looking shrug and say big waves, so sorry. From where they tend to go, washington DC is about 8 minutes by missile from destruction. President needs 4 to be notified and make a decision. He's not going to get to any helicopter.

You gotta remember SD70MACs are designed for pulling heavy freight trains not passenger trains that require HEP(head end power for heating/cooling and electrical). Now as far as passenger trains go depending on the number of cars pulled, usually one or two locomotives do the trick.
