Yeah, at the engineering level, everything from wear rates to oil consumption rates and change intervals are based on fuel burn. They convert it to miles and/or hours in the books, but it's calculated from fuel burn.

The excellerated caburator slipped on the engine mounts and went through the piston rings. Now, if you figure the rebuild on a 12.7 has an exact fuel/air burn ratio of roughly 4, doesn't anyone think that lugging the engine will cause a dramatic drop in oil pressure, which in turn will seat the jake brakes at a 90 degree angle? The turbo vanes I don't think were opening correctly. Look at the picture of those liners, they is no evidence that oil has ever been on them?

Make sure the air box drain check valves are not stuck or stopped up with carbon. Is that dated enough?

Might as well thrown in making sure the dipstick is secure so it doesn't blow out! Or maybe changing the oil in the air cleaner?sdaniel and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
