questions for Bruce:
In all that time that things weren't quite running right (swapping tunes, turbos, etc) did PP check compression or leakdown?
Did PP build the engine in house, or was some/all of the process subcontracted?
What were the oil samples? -
KW Cajun Thanks this.

my take on it
PP was not aware that the new motors came from the factory with a corrosive inhibitor installed and filled the cooling system with the Evans thinking they had a dry virgin cooling system to work with.
The trucks owner was mislead that he had to climb hills at 1250 because that is where his engine pulled the best mileage. Early on he may have lived by that rule even though he denies it and overheated the motor where the beginning of the end happened and caused the liners to settle and ####.
Once the Evans started the corrosion process by interacting with the factory applied corrosive inhibitor the deterioration of the head was well on its way.
The continuing overheat situation was accelerated by the distorting of the block and the movement of the liners and than finally the reprograms and trying to get the best mileage which usually involves advancing the timing.
Next the owner abandoning PP to have a nother shop change to a different ECM and tune and now a new smaller turbo created excessive backpressure and heat that finally cooked a valve and caused the bad leakdown.
So I think PP is to blame for not having the knowledge that the factory inhibitor was present but we do not knoew if they were forced to add the Evans by Kevin.
Also the trucks owner was mislead that he had to operate that truck at the optimal mileage RPM
ultimately the trucks owner Shot himself in the foot by allowing another shop change ECMs and tunesThe Admiral Thanks this.
