I was only going by what was said by the Evans rep and Kevin Rutherford. The idea peaked my interest. I will take any opinion as well as the Evans rep with a grain of salt. I can find the opposite of any idea, opinion or anything on the internet.
I applaud anyone taking a risk to trying to improve something or comimg up with a new idea. Without such their is no improvement for society as a whole.
Transferimg heat away has always been a problem that is causing much inefficienties and has prevented the development of many technologies. Just look at the server farms and the amount of cooling required for them. -
We looked at Evans Coolant, we got a call from a marketer trying to sell us on it, so we met with one of their regional people and he gave us 20 gallons to try out in one of the trucks. He wanted to sell us the 20 but I told him if he wants me to try it, its free.
After 14,000 miles, we dumped it and returned to a proper antifreeze. It ran too hot for us, and because there was no justification using it, it was easy to just return to OEM antifreeze. The costs of the conversion plus the shipping didn't justify using it, the improvement in mileage was small, and varied against the base line we established. So it was an idea we tried and won't return to.
The one thing that has to be done is make sure the entire system is clean and heat can transfer. Coolant doesn't really go bad and there isn't much in the way of improving it, however when your radiator is clogged inside or out, it can't transfer the heat.rabbiporkchop, popcorn169 and radioshark Thank this. -
Ok, now the real explaination. The Kenworth had a dimpled radiator with smaller passages for the coolant to flow. Evans is a thicker almost like a gel, and didn't flow through the dimpled radiator fast enough, so the engine didn't get cooled as it should. However that still did not explain the absence of micro blu that they paid for, but evidently did not receive.
