Doesn't matter. I don't care of the fleet was bobtail. The only place an L10 powered truck or any other class 8 got over 10 mpg in 1986 was on an engineers computer. That would literally be double than any other trick in the nation at the time. If there was any truth to that claim every single fleet in the country would of copied that formula.

He said max contracted weight, which really means the max the mail contractor would put on. In the first post, first reading it sounded like he was talking 80,000 lbs, second reading, big deal!

My dad was getting 8 in the early 80s with a 281 Peterbilt and 262. I guess pushing it through only 1 drive axle made a little difference.

262? What the heck was that? We had a 362 but never even heard of a 262 model. Or a 281 for that matter.

The first number in early peterbilt models indicated the number of axles. So a 262 is a 2 axle 362 etc.

The 281 really favored the 351 IIRC

Well ####. That is rather logical. Hard to believe pete would use logic in they're goofy numbering system.

Contract stated truck must be able to gross 54000. It was worded so you could not use a single axle. Any thing else ?

Ok I'll stop and get ya a few. Along with price, phone number and any other info the guy has posted on it. It's a beautiful greenish color. Teal? I don't know my colors enough to say exactly what shade that is..just a very light green, but not really green. Like it's got some blue mixed in. Idk.
