Hammer, I think you were grossly negligent in uploading the BS repellant pic with the cans SEALED. ;)
KR's 'update' (as not4hire posted, following your post) would be unviewable/blocked had the BS repellant cans been OPEN & SPRAYING on this thread page.

KR seems to always be stuck in 'vague back-pedaling gibberish' mode. Wonder if there's a translation dictionary for his language?

The other night KR was talking about this on the radio. Sometime ago he got calls from several glider owners with 12.7's that were getting horrible fuel mileage. They apparently came from the same builder (not Fitzgerald). At some point KR/KRs Team/PP theorized that there are several builds of 12.7's and parts are becoming hard to come by, therefore the Detroit is now building remanned engines with mismatched parts to fill orders. KR said that because Fitz has been building so many gliders for so long that they have the ability to still get the quality parts they need. (I believe Fitzgerald builds their own engines for their gliders whereas other builders just use engines direct from the OEM.) This was the jist of that segment of the show as I remember it. Someone please correct me if this isn't correct. Also, because of the supposed shortage of parts for CAT and Detroit, KR/PP are now leaning towards building N14s.

So, the mismatched parts problem is a current problem, thus Cowpie's truck would not be affected.

At Fitzgerald's you have a choice of Detroit from Clarke diesel or in house from Fitzgerald for the same money. But the fitz engine has higher compression bigger cam, ceramic coated manifold and larger turbo warranty can be done at any shop. The clarke diesel has to go to a freightliner or detroit shop for all warranty claims. just talked to Fitzgerald"s this week about getting another truck from them and they told me they are pumping out 80 trucks a week.

I am going to call Detroit on Monday and get to the bottom of this whole Sunkin Liner theory so there is no more speculation or doubt about it.

Maybe you can ask them about this alleged parts shortage and alleged subpar blocks being used too. [emoji6]

I heard that detroit was running out of suitable cores and had started casting new ones to keep up with demand.

for what its worth ... I already asked and the people I know there says that there is something else not being told. one guy said that it sounds like a bunch of BS to sell crap that the engine doesn't need.

The same guy said a couple other things, the DD "engineer" doesn't represent the accumulated knowledge of the company or the group he belongs to, he is more or less a spokesman for the PR group or some sort of know it all. He said they test engines up to 300 degrees for component durability testing, and they have failures all the time - at 250 and up. but at 180 degrees, that's all in normal ranger. even 220 is high but it is doable. What puzzles him is the idea that a new engine or a factory rebuilt should be messed with, when there should have been a baseline established with that engine in that truck to see where it can go and what can work.

None of them are fans of PP or KR and all of them hate Evans, saying if it was meant to be used, they would use it. The last comment one of them made to me was DD spends millions and millions of dollars on research to build a better engine and for some reason people think that they can improve on it by some of these modifications but when they go wrong, they blame the company that made the engine.
