Doesn't Swift charge more? With Roehl you can apply for school loan or pay cash as I did.

Prime has been screwing drivers since the 70's. Save yourself a LOT of heartache...avoid them. I'm former military too. I would recommend you use your GI bill and go to a community college. The training is much better and then decide what kind of a trucking job you want and research companies near you. That's just my advice.

My advise is simply look around and read all the forums and make your own decesion. Try to cut through the bs and the haters of each company.

You need to go read the prime threads, I am an Instructor and trainer for PRIME and I started in the Prime student driver program, They have done everything they told me they were gonna do. I have no issues with them whatsoever. After you complete your training and get your own truck they start you at 36cpm, if you get a lightweight truck you get another nickel. NO OTHER carrier can touch that starting rate for newbies and prime treats the drivers that qualify and make it into the program like kings. Thats why so many of these forum trolls slam us. They were most likely people who couldn't make it at Prime. We are very professional and safe, Whoever told you some of those other companies were good was filling your head with a bunch of non truths. Good luck on your decision. Also, Hitting a curb will fail your test for that day, Not forever

Johnny reb, please don't slam the company if you don't know anything about them, You say you are former military, then you know all companies have good and bad. I am retired Navy. Prime treats it veterans with the utmost respect and treats its qualified drivers awesome.

I know plenty about prime. Why is it called New Prime? Do you know? I do. Why did they have to purchase Rocor and keep RTC as their company driver side? Why when you lease a truck from them do they not allow for you to add anything to help increase fuel mileage? I am glad you are retired Navy, I served as a nuke for 8 yrs but the relevance of that is what? Most companies treat veterans very well. Prime isn't the worst bit far from "treating drivers as kings." I don't miss Prime a bit and their one seat, one fuel tank light weight truck that you can go scale 49000# of freight so your fuel mileage sucks.

I wish to say something about DAC. I got a DAC report and nothing bad showed up on it after PAM. But any company I called, once they called PAM wouldn't talk to me anymore.

IF I can make it, I MUCH prefer local hotshot driving! By make it I mean making enough money.

Prime wants you to stay out 6 weeks at a time.
Swift or Central Refrigerated may be better, unless hometime is no problem.
