OOIDA comes to the IdleAire sites with a NASCAR simulator to discuss the benefits for an O/O to use IA and become a member of OOIDA. Look, 99% of the time you encounter an Idleaire rep with an attitude it's because they're probably new and they don't know all the "rules" yet when approaching a driver. Idleaire is a good deal and I use it as much as possible. I've saved a lot of money vs. idling and I've cut down on service costs. As far as someone from Idleaire making you move - if the truck stop is totally full, they can't make you move, but they can ask you to shut down your truck. They're renting the spaces. No different if you're renting a house and ask a trespasser to leave the property. They're allowed. The world is changing my friends. As much as they need us, it's not trucker friendly. I have an APU and I still use Idleaire because my APU isn't 100% dependable and I can't get all the stuff from an APU that I can get with Idleaire. It's a good deal. Most the drivers out there who don't like it... is because they don't understand it or afraid of change. Try it once and I bet you'll do it again.

If you dont mind me asking, what brand of APU do you have on your tractor? And what kinds of dependability issues do you have with it?

I have some knowledge of these machines and might be able to set you in the right direction to get it fixed up and working properly.

The one renting the property does by law own it so they make the rules not the land owner.

However, their agreement with Idle Aire, is that they are not to kick out trucks.

agree with that... wish there was a better way to attach unit with out having to get out of truck , for those really cold wintery days... you can't always rely on the iA rep to find you when you've just pulled in.

    Yes Donald
I remember talking to you and I really appreciate the time you took from your homework and gave me the opportunity to bend your ear for a few minutes.
Although, I have been thru Mt Vernon several times (I stopped there last night, in fact), I had lost the slip of paper I wrote your number down on, so I haven't called you when I was thru. Besides, I am not sure you would appreciate a call at 2 am (but that's a different story). Anyway, thanks again for allowing me to vent a little.

They have kicked three of our trucks out of the IA at the Petro in Knoxville, mine was the second one.

I should have noted it was the TA's that had the agreement. However, since they own Petro, I thought it would carry over. Looks like it will be even more fun in the future. After spending 600 ++ in fuel, Idle Aire don't want you to park there unless you use their services.

Means it will never be used by me.

I don't care for idle aire because they did me wrong but if there is not a spot left they can not kick you out also after 10pm they can't kick you out of a spot if you don't use the service. If you are not useing it and are running your truck or reefer a driver must first make a complaint about you before idle aire can do something about it and it is usually the management at the truckstop that has the say

KEEP IDLE AIRE OUT OF TRUCK STOPS BOYCOTT THEM

When I was at the petro in carlisle there was a bunch of trucks backed in to the idle aire, while the truck stop was full i set up for a back in a slot right next another truck, and the idle aire rep kicked me out and i said what about the other trucks backed in the slots? And she said thats none of your concern. Oh well just another day in the truck stop.:biggrin_2551:
