Hopefully this is a lessoned learn.chances are someone called the cops.it doesn't matter how far off you ramp you were parked and vehicles could get thru, the point is you was illegally parked.start spending your last hr driving looking for a safe and legal place to park or be prepared for another 2 am wake up call.

Next time, kick the trooper in gonads and twist his ears. That always works for me. Down side is,the 50k volt taser they carry. If ya get hit with that, it'll feel like you were kicked in the jewels. On second thought, be totally compliant and look for another spot to sleep.

In that case, log off and do not append logs. Problem solved.

I know this rest area. It has very limited truck parking with a long off ramp and dirt shoulders. Can't recall if there are no parking signs on that ramp or not. I doubt he could even see that the 'all parking spots were taken' from where he was parked at but there's only about 15 spots there they probably were. He just pulled off and parked there assuming they were if it was late.

NC has been cracking down on this after a wealthy vineyard owner who lives on the north end of 77 whined about it to his buddies in Raleigh so it's been on their radar for awhile now statewide.

If he was going north on 95 he had just passed kenly not too far back with a huge petro, a big J and a couple other smaller stops.

You never know when you'll get that unwanted wake up call.it's just not worth taking the chance.I hate getting woke up.there's been times I've parked like this guy and couldn't sleep thinken someone is going to tell me to move it.so I'd head someplace more safer.cops could care less if you parked it because you were out of hours no court of law will support that arguement for parking illegally.as long as vehicles can go in and out of the restareas with ease I don't see a problem with the parking but I'm not the law either.

They used to never bother us in NC till someone with money made an issue of it. Now it's a problem.

It happens to all of us at some point just due to circumstance / shippers / receivers / wrecks closing a road or whatever.

9 of us got kicked out of a malwart at 3 am once even after the manager gave at least 3 of us the okay to park. The punk young city cop said the manager didn't have the badge, we weren't parking at 'his' malwart and he didn't care about our clock. You just can't argue with an idiot like that.......but while the crusty ancient O/O did just that telling him it wasn't 'his' malwart, it belonged to the Walton family......the other 8 of us snuck out a mile down the road outside the city limits and squeezed into a strip mall lol

Then, I'd pull out my log sheets and run on paper til I finish off the week. I'm not gonna let a cop ruin my week.
