Nobody thinks they are truly ready and those that do are probably the ones who fail. I went through Prime and got the "trifecta". After 2 weeks with the instructor on the road, we got back to Prime on Sunday night. He said I would test on Wednesday morning... I was like what, no way am I ready. Matter of fact, I hadn't even drove the truck in reverse, no backing what so ever, none. But by Wednesday morning, I was ready.... Your trainer stands to make a $1000 bonus if you trifecta (and you $300), if you're not ready he's not gonna let you test. Relax, study your pretrip, listen to what he is teaching you, and yes they will give lots of attempts... I remember a few people that it had taken them 5 or 6 attempts before they passed.

If you fail the exam, just re-take the test. The school is in operation solely for the purpose of you passing their requirements and obtaining your CDL.
It's like a Geico commercial for new truckers: If you're in trucking school, you get a cdl. It's what you do.
All funny stuff aside, let your instructor know you don't feel ready handle the upcoming exam. Your instructors' job is to push you through, so you may have to be emphatic.TheRealPorkChopExpress and Dan.S Thank this. -

Ok someone needs to upload a copy of Primes contract or other MEGA companies “CDL” school contract so these 100 threads a month can be answered in one post.

I went through a school I paid out of pocket for. When test day at the DMV came, I was nervous as hell, but passed the first try, no points off. Have some faith in yourself and you might be surprised?

2 hrs driving and you have your cdl.
That's just sad.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I do. I've heard of companies billing drivers who washed out at orientation for their physical and drug test.TheRealPorkChopExpress Thanks this.

You did the offset, the parallel park, and the alley dock without having ever driven a truck in reverse?TheRealPorkChopExpress Thanks this.

That is correct. My instructor said he didn't want me to learn anything on the road that would confuse me, because he'd teach me how to pass the exam in the exam conditions.
I did straight line, either offset or parallel, and the alley dock...... my instructor was spot on, he told what to look at and what to do with the wheel. Maybe spent 3 or 4 hours backing on the pad during those two days. Couldn't have been any easier. No points deducted during the backing portion.
Now it didn't really help in real world conditions, because there weren't cones and lines to see to make my wheel cuts, but basics still applied and I was able to practice my backing on the second phase of training.TheRealPorkChopExpress Thanks this.
