I've had a lot of them, never even been discussed with the examiner. My doc knows about them, said they don't stop you from driving.
I would eat food moderately and drink water. -
Kidney stones are disqualifying are they? I just don't see how that would affect your driving safety.

Some CVS pharmacies have DOT approved physicals.

I get tired of women complaining about giving birth because kidney stones are far worst pain. I would take the 12 hours of labor than the 48 hours of constant pain.
I had one that took me out for week, they could not remove it with easy surgery because of other issues and I had to pass it. That was a week long of pain, I was on all kinds of pain meds for that week and some of it didn't help.
So you want to drive in a lot of pain? -
I can understand taking off while you have them (just common sense). I just wouldn't figure a history of stones would be reason for a Dr to withhold you medical card.

My friend had one a while back, took a week off to endure the pain and came back. Terminal manager was sympathetic and just glad he returned. They aren't anything that will keep you from driving, lots of drivers get them at some point.
I make it a habit to drink a lot of water while driving. When you gotta pee, you stop and pee. Don't hold it and don't be one of those guys leaning in the seat to Wizz in a bottle, too many things can go wrong. Worst case is you pull over on an off ramp and wizz in a bottle.
My rule of thumb is if I drink a sugar drink I drink an equal amount of water. This is the price you pay if you want to drink citric acid and caffiene.
