What are the rules pertaining to kids riding in trucks when it comes to Car Seats or Booster Seats?

By the time the kids are old enough to ride per regs., they don't need booster seats...7 or 8 yrs.old is the minimum.

Same law applies to any vehicle the child is in, according to the size not age if the child. Biggest difference being any passenger riding in the trucks on this forum must have written authorization from the carrier. And most carriers are queasy about very young children in the vehicle. Problems also pop up at shippers and receivers.

Maybe that explains some of those drivers I see that you can only see there eyes above the door frame, they are little kids and their mother is letting them drive.:biggrin_25514:

I would check if they call the sleeper the same as a rv then you don't need car seat as long as not in front seat same as school bus

I would never let my young children ride in my truck unrestrained, be it in the jump seat or the bunk, no matter what the law says about it. That's more of a risk than I'm willing to take with my kids.

The policy at my company is 10 yrs old minimum, but I think that is too young to take a kid on the road. Even if its just for a few days, anyone with kids will tell you that their attention span is virtually non existent and they demand to be entertained, it would be brutal. When I'm on the road I have a job to do, and when I'm at home I focus all my attention on being daddy. I believe I'll keep it that way for a while. When my kids get to be teenagers, ill reconsider my position on the issue.

The company I'm leased to doesn't have an age restriction. You obviously need to follow appropriate child seat laws, and if the child is in the bunk napping for goodness' sake use the bunk restraints if you're rolling. Also, authorization, as required.

Just took my 7 year old son on his first run Monday. He loved it. He's a good passenger, and I really appreciated the company and not having to talk to myself all day.
