A truck is no place for a baby.

It all depends on your company policy. I drove for Crete 2.5 yes. Almost the whole time I worked there my wife and son went with me. Started when he was 7 months old. Ask your company see what they say and if they will allow you to do it go for it.

Uhoh, here we go. The weak and the cowardly are all going to come out of the woods to proclaim how unfit a parent you are.

You put your children in danger the first time you enroll them in school. You do know, don't you, Pelosi, that the odds of a baby getting hurt or killed in a big rig is a billion times less than the chance you take when you put your kid on a school bus. There's a higher percentage of bus rollovers than there are CR England rollovers.

And buses do? You are prejudiced against trucks.

I got all that unfit parent stuff from the in laws. A truck has a passenger seat and a seat belt just the same as a 4 wheeler. Strap in the baby seat and go. The old lady has to ride in the bunk though haha! In the end we had alot of fun and really didn't care what anyone thought about it. The downside........my son is now 8 and talks about trucks and driving nonstop!

Had a friend of mine do that long ago. He and the wife ran team. Wife got pregnant, came off the road to have their daughter. The girl rode in the truck with her parents until she started school. Wife came off the truck. By this time, they had a small fleet. They started a trucking school. Theirs was one the first schools I knew of that would send students out with trainers across country and back. Their whole thing was training better drivers.

Is that in the Book of Odds? It doesn't take a rollover to injure someone. We're talking a new student that never drove a truck before which is a higher risk for an accident their first couple years. Truck drivers are on the top 10 list for work place fatalities. School bus drivers are not. Why? A truck driver drives almost 10 times as much. Schools close in inclement weather. Your school bus comparison is weak.

So anyone that disagrees with you is weak and cowardly? That's funny.

So where is the baby when he has to unload a truck, supervise loading, fueling, in the truck stop, broke down in the middle of nowhere in subzero temperatures, forced not to idle in 90* weather,...?

Does one smoke and constantly have the baby exposed to closed quarter smoke, diesel fumes? How would you feel for the baby's safety driving through Chicago, Jersey or NYC and crackheads jumping up on your steps.

Does the rest of the world take their kids to work? You are working, performing a service and not out on a picnic. A child needs a stable home environment and not expected to be strapped in a seat 11 hours a day.

Though there is nothing wrong with taking a older kid on an occasional trip, a truck is no place to raise a kid. Bring the wife too and someone is not going to be strapped in.

So your friends had money to start a trucking school but couldn't afford a home or apartment? Some are just lacking in parenting skills dept. A real truck driver works his butt off while providing a stable safe environment for his family at HOME! Kids need to be around other kids and not exposed to a urine soaked parking lot with lot lizards, bums and idiot drivers.

I almost didn't post because I am a coward and weak but I got the nerve up! :)

To answer you George it all depends on company policy. Their insurance dictates who can ride. Most I've seen is no riders to 12+ or 16+ or 18+ years old. There might be a few exceptions but I haven't seen them. Most require written pre-approval from the safety dept so the person can be covered on the insurance.

He asked if he could not if you thought he should. What he does with his kids is his business not yours.

Not your business either. I just replied to Triple Six's silly one sided comments. I am allowed to comment am I? The world wasn't built around you. You have to live within a society and laws. You must be one of these drivers that thinks he can do what he wants. 16 posts in two years you"re on a roll! I'll get a few more out of you! :)

My reply to George was straight forward in the last paragraph.
