It was one of the troopers that sit in the median before rest areas . They probably cite the drivers that stop on the shoulder just before the rest area .

if you take the per diem you will be helping your company and hurting yourself. (#1 ssi will be lower when you retire because they use the lower rate for you retirement it is a big deal at retirement (#2 workmens comp. will be paid at the lower rate (#3 your tax base for the year will change and your cpa will ask you why did you do that, its just a legal way for these companies to beat the driver out a few bucks. when your hr man is trying to sell this to you, ask him or her how you will come out ahead on this. and think to yourself let the lies begin,

I have always opted for the per diem. It always gave me better take home pay. I am, however, single with no children, so I have 0 dependants. It may be advantageous to opt out of per diem if you are in a situation where you have a few children and claim them.
If the company benefits a little from it as well, so be it. I dont mind the gov't getting less of my tax money. -
That is some seriously low CPM! Per Diem is annoying. It messed me up really bad. This may be hearsay, but I truly believe that companies use perdiem as a method to "legally" ninja money from their drivers.

Another thing I hate about per diem. Every time I've tried to opt out of it, I get the old Jedi mind trick. "you don't want to opt out of per diem, you'll make more money". Lies.
I tried to opt out of per diem with two different megacarriers. One of them would play games to avoid the paperwork with me, the other flat-out told me I could not opt out of per diem. PERIOD.
Any company that requires per diem can hire someone else. I'll stay home, sip coffee, rub my lady's feet, and play some music!
