hello everyone,
i just got out of the service a few months ago and got my CDL permit. i do not plan on going to a school. my father has been driving for some 20 plus years with another 5 or so being a mechanic on anything big... that being said i know my way around a truck and also driving... however the laws confuse me and i can never understand them or what they mean..
so here are my questions
1) since i have a permit and required to drive with a licenced CDL drive (my father) am i required to complete a log book also?? or do i fall under his since i can only drive while he is with me and while he still has drive time?
2) do i have to have my yearly driving physical done before i can drive with my CDL permit or do i just need to have that once i get my actualy CDL??
any help would be greatly apreciated.. and just posting laws will probably confuse me so please explain it in commonn sense to me!! thanks!!
Kinda new guy with a few questions

The only difference between a CDL permit holder and a fully licensed CDL driver is, that the permit holder must have the licensed driver in the jump seat at all times while driving. He does need to log and he can drive interstate, but, the CDL holder will burn up his clock even while not driving, since he is on line 4 when permit driver is driving, right ?
