If you are in the driver's seat and your trainer is in the bunk, you are training yourself.

You do realize that a trainer is far more likely to get a terrible trainee than a trainee is to get a terrible trainer. Like one poster said, the bad trainers tend to get weeded out. At least, by the good companies. If all goes well you will have one or two trainers in your whole career. A trainer has 8, 10 or more trainees a year. I've trained altogether about 15 years with 2 companies. Have had dozens and dozens of trainees. And a large majority where good guys just trying to learn what they needed to know to get a good start in this industry. And I was happy to teach them as best I could. But we could start a whole new thread talking about some of the others. Some of them where a piece of......work. Piece of work is the term we'll use. Most trainers are just good men and women trying to help teach and mentor the next generation of drivers. So cut your trainers some slack. You may not be a terrible trainee, but his last one may have been and his next just might be.
