Axle doctor: I got the number from the web site and I beleive it was your wife that I talked to. It was somenone going by axle surgeon in Southern Indiana.

I even mention that I was only about an hour away. I'm pretty sure it was the axle surgeon dealer in southern Indiana. I even mentioned that I would be pay the same as I was going to pay Christi's machine shop of $500 and your wife told me, you couldn't come out that cheap. So I save a few hundred dollars and pulling the front axle wasn't that big of deal.

I'd recommend anyone else to pull the axle and take it to Christi's in Indy. They are very professional and do great work.

I am in ketucky and I am the only certified axle surgeons that does work in southern Indiana. we offer a king pin job that won't wear out. I know who you are talking about and I know they are not affiliated with axle surgeons at all. they are using the name to sell substandard work at inflated prices.

So if you are a different one, how much do you charge?
Hard for me to imagine, someone driving up 2-4 hours is going to be cheaper than someone close( Spencer Indiana) claiming to have the western Kentucky and southern Indiana area.
I only took the axle out and to a shop because of $500 savings. Not because I wanted to see if I could.

I just had an axle surgeon job done on the front axle of an International a few months ago. Apparently they did a good job, as no front end or alignment problems since. With that said, after it was all over, with the axle surgeon charge together w/ the IHC dealers charge for the new parts and their labor stripping it down to the point the axle surgeon could do his thing, the shop foreman told me it would have been about as cheap to get an entire brand new axle from International. He said there would have been only 4 more bolts to pull to drop the entire old axle out of the truck and replace it with new.

Be careful how u throw around the word axle surgeon! There are a lot of folks out there doing shabby work calling themselves axle surgeons. Truth is axle surgeons and axle doctors are federal trademarks of precision machine corporation out of Huron Ohio. We dint just use any line boring equipment. our equipment is designed for axle work. We use a laser alignment tool to install trailer spindles and we line bore all drive spindles. With our technology and patented process it's not common to have any of these issues listed in above posts. Axle doctors will come to your site. No need to pull the axle. They will regrind the thrust bearing surface on the bottom of your steer axle. This allows a nice surface to set up our boring machine keeping factory kingpin inclination. This alleviates alignment problems keeping the factory spec. We us a high tensile alloy sleeve. They start at .050 and increase In Thickness up 5 sizes to accommodate severely worn axles. We can actually line bore an axle 5 times. The sleeve is then pressed in The new bore and honed for your king pins. if the knuckle is worn we have our own oversized bronze bushings. We can line bore and save your worn knuckles as well. Kiser has a mag drill they use with poor results and they only have one size sleeve. They can't regrind your thrust surface and therefore they have no way to keep the factory spec. Kiser also can't help with knuckles and they slip fit there bushing in place. In a few months rust builds between the bushing and the axle. The spiral bushings are a joke. Any king pin bushing that is not reamed starts its life with slack. That's why truckers are replacing king pins like crazy these days. We can install our bronze bushings in your knuckles and offer U.S. made kingpins for optimal Rockwell hardness. This combination will take u down the road so much farther. We have some instances of a million miles. Call 877-349-2953 for your nearest axle surgeon or for kingpins axle doctor.

Also for your info our recommended charge is 350 for the first hole and 250 for the next hole. You can't purchase an axle for anywhere close to that. The factory king pins will not last as long as ours. And our sleeves are much better than the material they are making axles out of these days. Once u have us come do a set you will never install another no-ream kit. Not to mention if you keep trucks a long time. If the sleeve ever wears out call us and we will send a sleeve. If u watch your trucks u won't have to bore again, just replace the sleeve. Just setting the record straight!
