I have been with kllm for a little over a year i have found very little respect towards the drivers. The pay has seen a drasticly cut. My insurance went up over 20 dollars a week and what the insurance pay out is 10 percent less than it was. vacation pay was cut detention went to being after you have been at a customer 4 hours instead of three unless you are deperate enough to be a lease operator. or just need a little experience stay away im leaving in 2 weeks and would not recomend them to any experienced driver in fact they will not pay for experience. MY Fleet manager is a nice lady but she is over worked and would not have her job either.
kllm as a company driver beware

This has been a great company. I had 2 relatives who worked for them for many years. It is very sad to see this company struggle to survive. Even worse to see the truckers taking hits in pay and benefits.
CHUNKY MONKEY Thanks this. -
Oil JACKPOT ,that is right they were a great company back when i dont kn owwhats going on over there, seems its more than just the economic conditions that is causing the problems. I think they dont want company drivers any more they want lease purchase drivers that just aint for me. dont blame anyone for wanting to try it especially the way they are shoving it down my throat.

Looks Like KLLM is another mismanaged company looking to fail in the near term.
Treating drivers poorly and dropping pay while pushing leases is a bad sign.
Do your homework before you sign on...CHUNKY MONKEY Thanks this. -
I had heard a portion of KLLM was sold to a tire company. Is there any truth to that? What made the big change from KLLM being a great company to one that doesn't seem to care about their company drivers? Is KLLM trying to force their company drivers to quit? From the stories I have heard it sure sounds that way.
Mortar Man Thanks this. -
Oiljackpot, it is true part of it was sold to the owner of southern tire mart.
i dont think they want us to quit but they want all of us to be lease operators to keep from paying all the employment tax. When i first started there it was a good place to work.i still think a lot of my fleet manager but the rest of them there? i dont know the atmosphere is so bad drivers rarely speak to one another they dont wave when they see each other on the road. But come to think of it alot of times in todays enviroment thats how truckers treat each other, i guess you can call me old school if i have a chance to help a fellow driver i will i enjoy that. i dont care what race or origin. listen to the way drivers talk to the ladies on the road that is uncalled for.JustSonny Thanks this. -
People if it was possible most company's would use contractors instead of company employees. If you ever ran a business you would see why in these times it would make good business sense to use contractors versus employees.
Cutting costs to stay in business is mismanagement? So if they pay you .50 a mile and gave you a free Cadillac health plan they would be managed properly? got your MBA from who?
I used to work for this outfit when they where still running cabovers and can tell you if they have gone bad it is not becouase they wanted to. Private industry is being attaced across the board and many are in survival mode out of necessaity.roaddawg92, JustSonny and harvester Thank this. -
profit margin lowering might help.

I just left them after 6 years. They were a good place, but have gone downhill fast.It seems like they are trying to drive out the older, higher paid drivers and replace them with trainees, but with the last pay cut, trainers got a double cut so most stoped training.
