KLLM Driving Academy (Lancaster, TX)

After I pick up and deliver my next load. I'll be going on a dedicated account. Just got word that I'm approved for the BASF account. 2500-2800 mile avg. Some guys said they getting 2800-3100 miles. Kinda nervous because it's all chemicals and hazmat. Never have hauled it. Needed the boost in pay. Also told a lot of tight places where you have no choice but to blind side. Challenge accepted. Just something to improve my skills I say.

 

Yesterday was an extremely off day. After getting unload. My next load was ready. But my new dispatcher couldn't put it on me yet because my profile wasn't updated to show it have my hazmat endorsement. After going around and circles for about an hour. Was just told to head down to Brandenburg,KY. Get rolling and my dispatcher calls and said pull over when I can and take a picture of my license front and back. And send it to quality. Ok mo problem. I pull into the next TA. Do my set up and start backing. What did I do wrong. I didn't goal. Murphys law came into play and i hit covenant transport mirror. The only damage was I cracked the housing. The driver was nice about it. I apologized several times. He said don't worry. Called my claims department as he called his. I was shocked when he handed me his phone. He claims department wanted to make sure I was alright. That's all he asked. After swapping information. Sent my pictures of my license and finally got dispatched that load. Picked up my first chemical load going to geismar,la. You bet your butt I goal before I backed into that dock. Everytime I pull forward and got to back up i will goal. Don't care if others are impatient. Will take my time and cover my you know what from now on.

 

I'm hungry and tired. My food is just watching me though. I guess I do have a eating disorder. But anyway been driving through rain and wind for the most part today. Didn't realize how much that can wear you out. My nerves was through the roof a couple of times. Did 625 miles today. Was going to try and go another 30-50 miles but my stomach said feed me now. I'm about 3hrs away from the customer. Hopefully will have my next assignment before unload. Goodnight drivers and be safe.

 

I take vitamins as well. It's hard for me to really gain weight. But super easy to lose it. I love my volvo. The turning raduis of this truck is a huge plus. Had to get the fuel filter changed. And now I'm having a problem with the abs. It keep flashing then the truck feel like its sliding. It's not raining or anything so idk why it keeps coming on.

Delivered my load this morning in geismar. Was told to head to Pasadena to relay a load to Laredo. Get about 10 miles down the road when my dispatcher called. Said to pull over change of plans. Stop at a small truck stop for about 15 mins. Got a message to head to sanders farms. Ok no problem just got to get the trailer washout. Told nevermind just sit tight. After about 10 more minutes got a call. Told to head to garyville,la. I waited 10mins before pulling off. Just making sure this was the plan lol. I get to the customer when I get a call. Change of plans again. Instead of this load being 3 stops it will be 2 stops. Ok no problem. I check in get assigned a door. Took 1hr 30mins to load me. Get my paperwork and placards and I'm rolling. I'm parked at a rest area for the night. Going to get up around 4am. My 1st stop is in Panama and the 2nd in Tampa.

This account I'm on pay starts at 39 for company. The trade off though is they don't pay layover or detention. Was told if I don't get at least 2500 miles for the week they will pay to make up for that.

 

Got a message from safety. I get to keep my job lol. But i did get a point added.

I'm now sitting at my final stop. Already got 2 pp on me. Im loving this account so far. Not to heavy loads and don't take long to get loaded and unloaded.
