    Well today I turned in the truck. A bittersweet moment. Catching a flight to IA (hint) Sunday morning for orientation monday.

    AW.

    Well. Pack light. Enjoy your flight. Believe it or not I think you are going to enjoy a eclipse on the 21'st in that area.

    My last eclipse was Feb 26 1979 roughly noon my time. What happened was it got shady and that's about it.

    The pathway for that one circled from Alaska into Dakotas and up past Hudson Bay in a polar circle.

    You and I will be roughly 100 miles if not a little more from Totality even in the 21 of August. That will start in Portland OR and travel east until South Carolina. This will be my second. I expect somewhat darker time.

    For those in totality zone, the sun will go away, replaced by the Coronoa Ring of Fire, stars will come out, birds go to nesting, street lights flip on etc. It will be dark. Maybe scare some of the younger ones. Never mind the religious nutcases who are off their book.

    If anyone is still on this thread, I could use some help. I'm thinking of going through KLLM but I've read you have to be a resident of the state where the academy is. Is that true? I live in SC.

    They also have an academy in Mississippi and Chicago.
    The Texas academy, you must be a Texas resident, but Mississippi academy hires from multiple states.

    I appreciate the quick reply. I was actually supposed to get on a bus last night at 9:40pm for prime. Midnight rolled around & greyhound finally made the announcement there was no driver for my schedule. I waited 3 more hours until I had enough. I got an Uber home. I'll just take that as I sign that Prime isn't for me. I'm hoping kllm can get me on a bus this weekend but that's probably a long shot.

    @2Tatted95 --

    Why have you ruled out going to truck driving school at a local technical college?

    If I had $6000 laying around I definitely would. But if something happens and I'm not able to get my CDL I'll be stuck paying back a loan too. So I would rather go company.
