If you bought something that was stolen you would have been charged with "Possession of Stolen Property". A theft charge would only stick if they could prove you stole it, which means you would have to be caught in the act.

I bought a piece of equipment from a guy (new it was to good to be true) keep it for 1 1/2 and placed an ad in the newspaper sold it and a year later found out it was stolen. When I went to court I could not furnish receipts for my purchased so I was charged and convicted of a felony.

Just didn't know if they would except me. That was the one and only time I have ever had issues. Clean DMV and great work history. I'm in the process of getting it expunged from my record, however in the state of Txas it takes 90 days to remove.

As far as I know, you will not be hired if you have a felony conviction. Some cases may be treated on a case by case. Call KLLM Recruiting and they will tell you truthfully. I know that when I was in orientation, that 3 people were put out of class when it was found that they had prior felonies or DWI's, BUT HAD NOT REPORTED THEM ON THE APPLICATION. I don't know if they were put out because of DWI's and felonies or just not reporting them. Call recruiting.

Although I feel for you it still is a felony to be in receipt of stolen property. Although the felony part is the same receipt of stolen property sounds better than theft.
Had a two wheeler one time that was stolen. Police caught the guy driving the bike with a punched key. He was drag racing with it and he ran. He crashed it and after foot chase was caught. He claimed he bought it. Was not charged with theft just receipt of stolen property. Everyone, including the judge knew he stole but they could not place him at the actual scene of stealing the bike.
You claimed you were charged with theft. Unless they had some pretty good evidence I think you mispoke.
