Leasing from a company you drive for is NEVER a good idea for anyone despite what you may read here from those that just didn't listen.

They said it's because they can't get loads down here. If I lease I decide when I go home.

I've always thought it the opposite. Seems most say it's easy to get a load to Florida. It's getting back out that's the issue. I could be wrong. Florida is one of the few states in the eastern half of the USA that I have never been to.

Lots of loads into Florida but nothing coming out.
I lived in Orlando when I got back into trucking 10 years ago. Transam and Prime they get meat loads into Florida and Juice loads out of central Florida area.

Some companies make that offer when the potential driver lives somewhere that's hard to get home time.
    Forget KLLM.
Did you try Abilene, Freymiller, Transport America, TransAm?
Try Florida Beauty Express, then in 3 months you can go about anywhere else you want.
Try Western Express van division; do their refresher course then move on.

The reefer outfit I was with never had problems getting loads out of Florida. They used CH Robinson broker. I know lots of drivers, especially 0/0's gripe about CH Robinson, but we had excellent business with them. No stuck in Florida or California.
Produce out of the Everglades area, Juicy-Juice in Saddlecreek and lots of orange juice in central Florida.

Florida Beauty Express hires new cdl grads. You might not last 3 months there doing those Miami to California to New York back to Miami turns.

Submit an online application to Freymiller anyway; they're running ads for Ft. Lauderdale drivers. Their website has "One year experience required" but that's not up to date. They hire new cdl grads and also have a program for drivers that have been off the road a long time.

    "Class A CDL Company Driver
Freymiller, Inc - Fort Lauderdale, FL "

    Here's one for food service:

Driver Helper - if no CDL
The SYGMA Network - Pompano Beach, FL

    Driver - must have CDL
The SYGMA Network - Pompano Beach, FL

Please only apply for Driver position if you currently possess a valid Class A CDL. If you do not have a valid Class A CDL, please apply for the Driver Helper...

Abilene hires in Ft. Lauderdale. One of their trainers lives just south of there.
