Hey anyone on here based out of Sacramento CA, wondering what terminal you use Tulare or Reno?
Considering the 1 week on 1 off express lane deal they offer.
Any Info greatly appreciated? -

Morrisville, NC at a Sam's Club waiting for a door behind 2 of our drivers. When I got to the DC in Charlotte, I was supposed to pick up a load going to Rocky Mount, NC. I hook up and scale it and it's 11920, 33920, and34520---80,360 gross and I only had half fuel. So I go back to the guard shack and tell 'em the #s. So the guard calls their management and they say their not gonna do anything about it. I guess Knight will have to send a daycab to pull that one.

Yeah, the DC could have unloaded just the last pallet and made your weights on the tandems. Altho you probably didnt need to fuel up as were only about 225 miles away from destination. Just a quick look at one of my old trucking maps shows 'no scales' if taking the shortest route which is US64 from Raleigh to Charlotte---altho there is always the remote possibility of DOT setting up a portable scale along that route.
BTW, in my 10 yrs of driving I never got an over-weight tkt, as I heard on the occasions that I picked up a T-call a long way from the shipper, that the scales are only guaranteed to be 1% at best in accuracy, which would be 340 lb on the drives & tandems. And so being up to 200-250 lbs over may get a driver a 'pass.' They are more concerned with the gross being over which would be 800 lbs using the 1% rule. Moving the load 1 notch would have shifted the weight 250-350 lbs typically (a homogenous load such as a Sam's usually are, altho I've seen them put the liquid pallets on the back) back on the drives---so over on 2 weights, but all within the 1% accuracy of the scales.
Also, a driver can also call their home dispatch and get it in writing over the Qcom that if stopped & tktd, the co. would pay the fine since the shipper wouldnt resolve on their end..
Probably could have made it OK, but picking up directly from a 'rigid' DC and only 225 mile run, probably not worth any heart ache...If was a way to get home at the end of my time out, might have chanced it as the odds were in the driver's favor.
EDIT: If no fuel stop around Charlotte after delivery, can always explain why to your DM and get 'emergency fuel' locally at a station that will take your fuel card (or use your own cash and 'hope' for reimbursement if authorized when you turn in your trip sheet) for 25 gals of fuel...Last edited: Dec 21, 2012
