Can anyone tell me anything about Knight Refrigerated? Are they pretty decent to work for? How often do you get home (I live in Knoxville, TN)? What kind of pay? What kind of motor (power) and tranny do they run? Do they have APU's?

I'm pulling dry van and about to go broke. Need to get back to reefers. Would really like to find a company I can get consistent miles and hopefully and APU. Like to be home too, but this is everyones dream job I guess.

    Thanks

I know they run Volvos, and peterbuilts. I believe that some of their trucks have APU's but not 100% sure.

no apu but powerposts on the catwalk. ISX engines, etc etc.

Pretty much same as Knight dryvan, unless you get a old 6 bag Volvo from Roadswest.

Knight Refrigerated Is a great company. You do your job and do it right and they will take care of you. Don't confuse them with Knight Trans. They may be part of the same corp. But they are not run the same. they have great trucks. 400 ISX with a 9 speed tran. Power is great. I never run less then 30mph up any hill with any load. No APU's thou. But they will let you idle at below 32 or above 75. No problem. Pay starts at .31/mile more if the miles are less then 500 miles. You get pay raises after 30,90,180 days and 1 year. then every year. Plus they pay det after 2hrs and layover. Some times you have to keep bugging them for the layover. But you always get the det pay you request. The miles do vary a little. Have never run less then 2000 in a week. But it goes up and down. Depends on where you are and how the freight is running. They always get me home on time and never bug me to come out till I get ready. I started out living in Idaho Falls ID then moved to Pell City AL. No problem to get home on time to ether. In fact I'm at home now. My boss sent me home 3 days early. said he would rather get me home early then late. Besides If I'm going to sit I might as well do it at home.
Over all IMO they are a really good company

Don't know. I've been trying to find out if you can choose to come to KR or not. haven't gotten a answer yet. I think you have to go to Knight Trans and then after you have a year on the road you can apply to KR.

Does KR have team freight at all? we're looking at moving to Phoenix and debating on if we want a company more local or not than who we drive for currently.
