My wife and I are a team looking to relocate to the Phoenix area most likely by the end of the year. After some thought we decided a more local company might be a good fit and were curious about both sides of Knight.
Does either side take on teams?
if so, what is the pay?
how are the miles?
What kinds of trucks would a team get issued?
In the future how easy would it be to go from driver status to office status? I have my eye on a job i'm more than qualified for and feel transportation industry experience in general + company experience would probably help exponentionally
Thanks in advance.
Knight Trans or Ref... do they have teams?

Not 100% sure. But most if not all companies that run reefers do have teams.

A2:Not sure on the pay but a phone call to recruiting would tell you
A3:Miles for teams are quite good, they book team specific freight for their teams, in general, reefer side seems to have more consistent miles for OTR solos, but Dry may have more Team freight.
A4:Both sides have Pete 379's, volvo 670's, and Pete 387's. All have 400hp ISX motors, straight 10 OD tranny, 3:58 rears, sweet spot at 58 governor set at between 62 and 66 based on idle time(truck self adjusts this).
Knight may be one of the easiest companies to go from driver to Office, when I first started with them the division manager and shop manager at my terminal where both former drivers. Currently we have a dispatcher and 2 of the 3 person safety department that are former drivers.
That being said, if i had to work for Knight out of the Phoenix Terminal, I wouldn't. The shop there takes 3 days to fix anything and drivers in gerneral are treated as 2nd class. -
Thanks for the post Rizen. I wouldn't go for the Phoenix terminal if we wouldn't have to but we want someplace warmer than Colorado and Florida would probably suck overall during the summer with the storms and the rumor that freight sucks out of there.
the office job i'm looking at is the Cargo Claims Analyst.. which i'm well qualified for... and which i'm sure only employs out of Phoenix. Once the lady finishes her degree she will, i'm sure, be qualified for more than one position there... which is another main reason we're looking at Phoenix if you take out the family aspect.
