Personally I think Knight is a joke for a company and should do themselves a favor selling out. Looking for drivers that drove for Knight with less than a year exp and they had got rid of you for 2 pity incidents. If you was let go by them for pity crap let me know, and if your a female and drove for them I'd even more like to know. Thanks have a great ride!

 

This is my second time at Knight and all I can say to you is you either turn down to many loads or just want to be home weekends or run regional you can expect the worst . I have been on this road for 21 years and yes I have made more money at other companies but as far as respect, I get plenty of it here and as far as the money , I know it is not the best but I do average 3000+ miles week and what white horse said about the per diem , it is a choice to take it or not.and welcome to the real world of trucking. unlike wal-mart where you have everything done for you , here we do not have time to trash around in DC or truck stops we actually drive 11 hrs a day not 4 hrs of driving 8 hrs of trashing and 9 hrs of bs with other wal-mart drivers and every one here knows that. I am sure most of them here has seen or been at the wal-mart dc.
I have never been asked to run illegal with Knight. Possible you don't have the right dispatcher or some one doesn't know how to manage there time. From what I have seen at Knight you do have the right to request a different dispatcher or terminal to work. Don't get me wrong
I know Knight is not the best there is but instead of going all out and quiting check it out and talk to some one who may have the answers.
because no matter where you are and what company your with you have to take the bad with the good!

..they have turned from the driver-friendly company to a Swift wannabee!! Turnover is as high as Swift, and when they say that 'they won the business,' they mean they got stuff 'nobody else wanted'---lots of driver unloads at low $$ these days!! No the same co. it was 5-6 yrs ago...

 

Construction usually demands a MUCH higher skill level and knowledge than freight or OTR!They might not use DACs but you r usually tested daily by lots of your peers,foremen,etc.Give it a shot and try your best but im telling you its more demanding than OTR.But of course u also get more respect and pay usually......

I am a professional driver,22 years OTH experience,1,250,000 + accident free miles,Recently left Wal-mart after 11 + years.Long story don't ask ! I tried Heart land express which was a JOKE, Then I tried KKW Transportation both companies, I only could handle 6 days each after orrientation,Also create carrires, I didn't even get thru the interview, I was accused by a wantabe driver there with me for an interview,He tells them I'm carring a hand gun.They called the cops on me I was frisked and humilated.I told them to kiss my (a--) and made them pay my way back home or I'd see them in court.Then I got hired at knight transportation.I went to a 3 day orrietation got a truck went home loaded it with my stuff and went to work on sunday. They tell you up front no forced dispatch.Things went ok for a month or so then all hell broke loose.First of all with the experence I have you'd think I'd get top dollar for driving for these clowns,but no,they say all a person wants to hear so you'l stay but it's all B.S.Now is were the fun starts ,if your dispatcher doesn't like the hours that you run , he tells management you that you turn down loads kuss ya don't have hours ,then you are threatened with your job.This happened to me twice.I at first didn't want to start all over again going thru all the crap to get highered for another job,remember this was the 4th job in less than 3 months, Then after I thought it over I desided I was done with this crap.so I went home and cleaned out their truck and took it back to tulare ca.For the record, you dot Get paid for sleeper birth,If their truck breaks down you don't get paid for waiting for their truck to be repaired, even though your at a shop waiting,It's your time ! waiting to get a load you don't get paid.waiting to get unloaded good luck,your time !I had spent several hours away from home for about $300.00 a week because the pay from tuesday to tuesday and if you get a load on monday that delivers wensday it goes into te next week and you never see more than $500.oo a pay check if your that lucky after tax's,Then If you want this new crap called perdiem, they charge you 2 cents a mile to hide how much you really made from the goverenment,then make you think you really made more. It's a joke.I filed a complaint to the main office in phoenix az and got no responce,so I contacted the DOT in washington the day before thanksgiving,They called me back in a hour and hooked me up with an investagator . I logged a complaint with every agency that has control of federal regulations an they are going to stick it to these [richard craniums],I also hired an attorney.They try to get you to run illegaly, out of hours and whats going to hammer them is crossing state lines,. haveing drivers falseifying logs to make loads on time. uuups! guess WHO'S going to turn states evedence? yep thats me.So if ya don't want to go to jail or get screwed stay away from these companies , just thought you all might get the info out cause it's comeing.

Welcome to the real world of trucking these days. You probably have realized by now that the bulk of OTR companies don't operate like Walmart which is why you have burned through 3 of them in a short period of time. When you stopped working at Walmart you seemed to have made a error in thinking your next company would operate similarly.

Why did you hire a attorney? You quit right? The Industry and Government already knows that paying by the mile means drivers will likely falsify their log books from time to time, to maximize their income or drive when their ready to drive, no news flash there. As far as what they pay for, you should of known that before hiring on, right?

 

I Worked For Knght For 8 Mo Out Of The Atlanta,ga Terminal. I Was Lucky To Get 2300 Mi Back To Back Weeks. Knight Does Tell You That You Should Only Expect To Gross $800-$1000 A Week. I Also Spent At Least 2-3 Hrs Looking For A Mty Trailer And You Would Get Paid For The Miles. Knight Also Took Out 700 Trailer On June 30th 2007 And Said They Would "phase In" 900 New Trailers Buy The End Of The Year. You Also May Want To Check Your Miles They Have A Bad Habit Of Shorting You On Loads Less Than 300 Mi. This Is Not A Good Company For A Exp Driver. Try Roehl They Are Ok As Far As Trucking Co.

 

CORRECTION. KNIGHT DIDNT PAY YOU FOR MILES DRIVEN LOOKING FOR A MTY TRAILER. ITS A GOOD COMPANY IF YOU ARE A NEWBIE. THE PAY SCALE IS A SLIDING FROM .34 TO .41. THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU WILL GET 3 RAISES THE 1ST YR. IF YOU DONT MEET IDLE STANDARDS (LESS THAN %20) YOU WILL NOT GET A PAY RAISE. ALSO NO BONUS AND INSURANCE ISNT GOOD AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR 90 days and you only have 1 day to enroll for insurance or you will have to wait. do your home work!! i didnt and got burned for my stupid mistake

 

To give up driving for Wall Mart? Some one was not thinking! Been there what 11yrs? To expect the same money and bennys? To get no respect from companys that don't come close? The time that was lost do to stupidity ? Priceless!!!!!!!! You should get your stuff in order and call Wall Mart up and ask for your old job back!!! No disrespect but think about it huh?

 

Yeah the 4 jobs in 3 months seems to hint that something is going on here. No matter where you go you will find problems with any company. The only difference is how they work with you. I have found that Knight is fair in almost everything.
