This was my first sentence in this thread. "Today's truck drivers are just reflecting the moral values of today's society." It is problems not problem. The Mega carriers are not making life easier but they have little wiggle room left. I also think some societal changes over time has changed the way people look at things like loyalty and work ethic. << Both by the way don't work just one way. Just about everyone of the states have looked at truckers as easy money and have sapped a lot of capitol. The strong swallow the weak of course but look at how Schneider screwed the pooch in the 90s. They were cutting throats left and right then got to a point that their logistics just about fell apart and they lost those customers. To this day I have a serious doubt that company every found all their equipment. However one of the worst things to happen to trucking happened around the years 1998-2006. Because I don't want to start a public flame war I will keep my on peace however I will give a hint. A truck maker started flooding the market. Like I said it goes back to moral values. My last several years on the road I had to use locking fuel caps. I have seen with MY OWN eyes drivers use their company fuel cards and sell fuel. I have seen drivers sell tires. I have seen drivers come back to their trucks and their nice CB and other electronics antenna's were gone and there was only a cut wire hanging. I have seen what I am assuming to be other drivers cutting tires. I have seen people take batteries. I just don't remember either seeing or hearing about this kind of crap going on 30 to 40 years ago. This industry has changed and NOT for the better.

I try to, but it seldom proves fruitful because I'm noticing more and more drivers having less and less functioning brain cells.

You hit on a big one there with one word...."Liable".

We have long since entered the age of the proliferation of the destestable slip-and-fall lawyer, and the "get rich quick" schemes now lurk in the back of more people's minds than I for one personally care to deal with.

Theres only 2 rules in trucking that you as a new driver need to comply with,1:Get out of my way. 2:Stay out of my way.

    Typical response.
Yeah, back in the day, truckers were the knights of the road. They saved busloads of orphans, fixed the potholes in the roads, were their own police force, all while making $5.00 a mile, driving 34 hours straight, and running 4 logbooks. Yeah, the good old days.....

Just who are you trying to help, sir?

What pissed me off is that I don't have time to stop. Running on mileage pay it's the best I can hope for. I am not a truck driver, I;m a $%#@ machine.
