Know your surroundings in this dangerous world.

Was in the Petro Atlanta, in the sleeper on the phone. Some bummy older dude knocked. I come out of the sleeper, looked down and shoo’ed him away. I go back to the sleeper. A few seconds later, I hear yelling. Russian driver had his windows down laying out in his underwear, wallet on the dash.

Mistake One.

Bummy reach in and snatched his wallet. Ruskie came out of the truck in his underwear in the middle of the driveway to confront Bummy. I put my gear on and shoes and 9mil and I’m on the ground in 20 seconds. Bummy is gone and Ruskie comes back out of his truck clothed.

Mistake Two…shoulda opened a can of whoop arse and treated him to a golden shower after the beat down. And next time, wear boxers instead of tighty whiteys. Hey, if you gotta come outside in your shorts, bring a can of whoop arse with you.

I hate to see a driver get robbed and so I tell Ruskie to go to the gate and wait and I will go to the C-store and alert security. Ruskie follows me to the C store.

Mistake Three. There are only 2 ways out. He would head through the gate.

Security asks for a description from Ruskie. Ruskie cannot remember what Bummy looked like. I give the description.

Mistake Four. People, when a crime is committed and you got a visual, remember to take note. Ruskie took ZERO notes. Makes all the difference in the world when you can give accurate descriptions. You must participate in your own rescue.

 

The Petro in Atlanta is the most genteel, relaxed, how shall I say it? civilized truck stops in America. I don't believe this story.
