As a driver here I can tell you we've been trained on spotting suspicious packages and it looks like it paid off. I know of instances where drugs were confiscated but this is a first to my knowledge..

As a driver in the DC/Baltimore/NY/NJ/Philly region I can tell you that we're always on alert for stuff like this and have been trained on how to spot it.. Props to our management for always keeping an eye open to this sort of thing..

I could have lived without the company plug but then again, I'll plug them for it so whatever.. Good job LLB - Lubbock, TX..

I agree. I heard about this on Sirius and thought it was a very good job with some attentive Con-Way staff. Kudos to them!

Um, I heard originally the police and FBI were taking most of the credit of thwarting this potential terrorist attack with almost no credit given to Con-Way. :(

There is no question Con-Way did a great job, I've said forever that w/the amount of freight any of these companies move daily--they would be easy targets and/or easy to use to do bad things. So this is really great to hear--but my real question here(and I know the company did report the shipment)is what is a chemical company like that with that kind of product doing blindly shipping these kind of products w/out checking deeper in the first place? I'm very happy things worked out the way they did, but doesn't it kind of make you wonder?
    Just my $.02

I'm sure the Feds will be asking that company that very question.
Who knows, the company could have been in on it, too. You never know.

In Houston! Part time dock and fill in line haul and also Apprentice position. If I could stand P and D I'd apply in a NY minute! Anyone down here in Houston (or remotely close) should jump at this opportunity. Apprentice means students finished by them. All you need is a CDL-A. They do the rest....I know they're a good outfit, there's testimony here on TTR.

I agree, and they deserve the plug. They did get a positive mention, along with the chemical company, on our local news. Good job.

I like this part in your link -

"Con-way and other members of the transportation community have been working closely for several years with the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and other authorities to develop escalation plans and communication practices to enhance homeland security. The success of this collaborative process is evident in the results of this case."

Just months ago, people were knocking "Big Sis" and DHS for plugging "See something, Say something." We live and learn. :biggrin_25520:
