Run away . I worked for them a few years back. They cut their rates to the customer and didnt bother to tell the drivers, then when we got our paychecks,we were shorted an average of $300. I can understand being competitive, but notify your employees that their pay is cut on runs as well. Because they pay %, i know of about 7 of us walked .also dont do the washington run. They have a hard time getting you back home.a 7 day run ended with being deadheaded back to toledo,oh

    This^

You can also expect to split most of the bill for your orientation. Not to mention getting information for anything is like pulling teeth. There is also a reason their mechanics are there and not some place they could be making bank. Without going into details this is what you can expect at orientation. Expect to the run around. Expect nothing cause in the end that is what your going to get. They will tell you to run your logs however, then they will punish you for it. This company will basically treat you like your replaceable.

About their trucks. They look nice from a distance. That is all I'm going to say. That is the good, the bad, and the ugly. You can take that and run with it or you can run away.

do your self a favor man, dont go here. i just worked for them from 02/2011-06/2011. this plas is a mojor joke. i had to find my own way to the supposed orientation, its a 2 day deal with a guy named spacey casey thats a joke in its sef. the hotel the put you up in is in streetsboro, ohio if im not mistaken. while your there the hotel is the best part. and as for the mechanics, yea thats a joke too. and when i was there the trucks are at best ok looking from a major distance but thats it. pay also is 22% of the load, and thats a joke. you load for free and unload for free. not a place to be working for unless you like taking home around $500 a week and live in a truck for that pay. on a positive note, i have heard if you can get a local gig with them out of the yard in newbury then its not all that bad as you can go home every night. but for 500 bucks a week i think not. they also like to promise you holiday pay, a personal day, just try to get it, you wont get nothing from these bottom feeders. as for the logbook you better match 100% or they make you fix your logs so it matches and if you are speeding on your log book from point a to point b on your logbook they will make you rework that log book too. and im not talking the state speed limit here either

hotel: is the best part they pay for it, i think its in streetsboro
food: your on your own for breakfast, lunch and dinner
transportation: i had to provide my own with no reimbursment
pay: what pay? its 22% which is chicken S*it
and it goes 2 days of dealing with spacey casey the safety director, and more then likely it will be just you. and then you go out on the road with a local guy to " give a road test" but you do all the work for that day. and if he feels you can go on your own then you will go or otherwise you stay longer in training

I wanted to update this since I abandoned it so long ago. My husband went to orientation and went on to work for the company.
~Hotel-As stated above it was a nice hotel. It was located in Streetsboro and there was a lot of food and entertainment around.
~Transportation- There is no reimbursement for getting to orientation or back. We drove our car down and I left after I dropped him at their yard. They did allow him to use a company vehicle. Which I thought was nice of them.
~Pay- Orientation Pay was not great and I didn't expect it to be great. They also take your required NEW DOT physical out of your first check.
~Well they did seem difficult to get information out of. They don't offer anything up and there is no hand holding at Kuhnle's. If you want to know something you have to ask. They will happily provide any information you ask for if you ask for it.

He has been there for almost a year now. The pay has been good and honest. The insurance is good. They have a 401k plan after your there for a year. Most smaller outfits don't so that was nice. There are slow times and for anyone that has hauled tanker or been married to someone that has this is expected. They are very kind and they respect their drivers. My husband has a good dispatcher. Which is great since he has had some really crappy ones in the past. I'm going to reply to some other threads about Kuhnle so use the search if you want to address other topics about the company. My family enjoys the company and I hope my husband chooses to retire with them. But not every job is for every individual.

Getting Started: You use to rarely see new drivers there but I hear their activitely hiring. You will be paid very little for your orientation. They will put you up in an nice room and a nice hotel in town. Convenient to everything. You however will be responsible for your food. They do not give you any money or provide you with any meals. They will also charge you for a new DOT physical that is mandatory even if yours is not expired. Your first truck will be whatever was left behind from the previous employee. But the drivers tend to get the equipment checked and maintained. So it may have some age on it but it will look sharp and will be decent as far as mechanics go.

Equipment: The company takes care of its equipment. They have mechanics at their terminal to maintain the trucks. Good Mechanics that know what their doing. If your on the road and need something fixed which is rarely you simply go to a service center, get it done, and they pay you. So the equipment looks good and is well maintained.

Pay: Your paid on percentage and they will tell you what the load pays if you ask but they do not willingly give up this information. Sometimes the loads pay crap for the work that goes into them. I have seen 100.00 Checks and I've seen 1800 checks. It varies and is never steady pay. They say they dont play favorites and they give the loads to first come first serve. I stopped believing this after talking to drivers that had been there 10+ years. Trust me their eating better than you. Things like that guy lives in his truck and that guy has a family of 8 to feed is not considered. The guy that lives in his truck and has been there 10+ year will eat steak while your family lives on soup. That guy is getting the better runs because he rejected all the crappy 100 buck loads which will then dwindle down to you.

Stick it Out or Leave: You can stick it out and hope to one day be the guy that only runs acid, de-icer, or water treatment. During that time you will be shuffling trailers around and taking #### loads. Cause well someone has to do them. And it would be ok if the guy that was eating high on the hog had to take one every once in a while. But he isn't going to so that leaves you to do. Things get better with time. Consider yourself a fresh bottle of wine when you start here. You need to age to get a better spot in the cellar. (many companies are like this)

Treatment: Their not going to hold your hand but they will treat you like a person. A person that works for them. Not their best friend. So do not expect to be treated like your part of the family or anything more than a truck driver that gets a paycheck from them. Their small but there is a reason their successful.

Final Thoughts: I left the company with no bitter feelings. What I am stating above is a mixture of my opinion and facts. You may feel differently. I enjoyed my time there. But I also enjoy eating more than 7 months out of the year. And I like to pay my bills. OK thats a lie I dont like to but I have to. This company doesnt do that. Many times I didnt break 40k at a tanker job. You can make much more money and see your family alot more doing something else. If your a single guy that wants to live in your truck then they will provide you with nice accomodations to do so. I wouldnt call this a family friendly trucking company.
