I bought the wife a new car this week. Same model and specs just new. The dealer wanted to give me 25k on trade which normally would be really good. It was worth 25k probably 2 yrs ago. But, my local Ford (bought the car out of Cleveland to actually find what I wanted) here in town offered 27k and would write a check on the spot. Long story short this got some wheels turning and I looked up the value and it says 34k! I decided to hang onto the old car and sell it myself. I can’t overlook that much money out of convenience.

I bought a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon last year. When I took it in for service last month the dealer offered me $7,000 more than I had paid them with 20,000 less miles.

    Same..
Dealer offered me substantially more for my 4 yr old Accord. Thought about it for a minute but with elevated replacement cost figured it would be a wash at best. Same when checking value of my pick up.

Like I said previously my 2016 Nissan Sentra has doubled in value. When I had it for the first two years its KBB value had only been around $5000 to $7000.
Right now it’s current KBB value is anywhere between $9300 to $10,900. It helps that it only has 15,000 miles on the odometer-aside from the occasional road trip the car mostly goes back and forth between my house and where I park my truck (85 mile commute one way).

Biggest problem is that everyone thinks their junk is worth a fortune. I've been keeping an eye out for a potential project truck to build for the 1/4 mile. People want 5 figures for a 20-25 year old RCSB Chevy with rotted cab corners, rotted fender wells and 300k on the clock.

Be glad when the $3500 trucks are actually worth $3500 again.

    2 part post here....
1st .. IDK .. about the whole used truck market in general.. because there is a lot of trucks I don't watch the market on ....But the Brand and models of the few I watched I noticed have started to drop some in price
2nd ... to ya'll that are posting about how the price of your used vehicles has gone up significantly...thats fine but go price something new (or used ) .. to replace it.. your still just trading dollar for dollar ... just more of them... thats how inflation works.. but we can't use that word...according to the guy with the aviator glasses .. its called( robust economic growth )... yeah right

I already priced out a few replacement vehicles-I’ve literally outgrown my Sentra(not enough thigh/lumbar support which makes my commute or road trips fatiguing)so it’ll be replaced soon. So far the prime candidates are:
    2020-present Kia Forte GT
    2021-present Hyundai Elantra N Line
    2019-present Volkswagen Jetta
    2019-present Toyota Corolla
    2019-present Honda Civic
I have certain criteria for the vehicles I’m looking at
    1. Mandatory manual transmission option
    2. Price range can’t exceed $26,000
    3. Satellite radio option
At the most the Elantra,Forte and the Corolla meet all three criteria. But you have to cross shop carefully.

    bzinger Thanks this.
