Hey everyone new guy here. I have a 2000 W9L C 15 6NZ 550, 3.55 rear 13 spd. I don't truck everyday. I farm also, pull mainly a hopper trailer on short runs and get anywhere from 5.8 to 6.2mpg. Pulling a spread dropdeck with big round hay bales overwidth with tons of drag usually just below 5mpg on 100 to 150mi runs. I run northern KS and southern NE. Weigh 80k with hopper and 60-65k with dropdeck and 30 big round bales.

2004 W900, 72" Areocab, C15 single turbo bridge, 6NZ 550 flash file, 13, 3.36, 24.5 tall
pull insulated tank, loaded one way, 80,000 # max; posted speeds if cops are near.
MPG for 2000 mi. trip will usually average 6.2-6.3;
5.7 to 5.9 if I idle during layover. -
When I ran this 2000 W900L with a CAT I got a pretty consistent 5.8.
Some times over, some times under.
Running rocky mountain states where its not really flat and we can get a fair amount of
constant wind. I didn't baby the throttle. I always had places to go and people to see,
and freight to haul. Car hauling is among some of the worst types of non aero freight to haul. -
Know the feelings. Pulled reefer for majority of my driving career and now Air Import / Export freights out of JFK in NY, where everything is a rush. Hell they're late before we even get the call for pick ups! That's why all our trucks are "wide opened" because once we see "daylight" we gone! As for fuel mileage, we don't get any because either we're stuck in traffic or we're flying. On top of which, even though we technically don't have mountains per say but enough small "hills" where you can rarely get a running start on (slow OTR trucks, container haulers, garbage/trash haulers, etc..) squatting in middle lanes because they'll fall off their tk and die if they ever move over so others could pass.In our situation "aero dynamics" are foreign words and we don't use it.

No one else! Wow, so unpopular truck
.

Well I decided to slow down to 65 and average close to 5.8 so far. I may just keep this truck.

I wasn't aware any kitty cat motor could go that slow without having major problems. -
Bah I got time on this run so I decided to experiment. Plus I have a bad injector cup/o ring and getting fuel in coolant, 20lbs of boost and 75*F with fan on climbing hills and it quickly gets hot. Gotta fix her when I get home.

Sorry to hear that......... but I knew uninjured cat would never crawl! Hope you get everything all fixed up though.

I could never break into the 6 mpg range in My 99 w900 with a 500 det and a 13 speed... Now I have a 2000 t600 with a 430 c12 and a super 10 with 3:55 rears and I average 7.6 mpg running usually 63k lbs total weight and 6.9 hauling 78k lbs. # 65-68 mph.. I will stay with my t6 for a while the extra money feels good in my pocket...lol
