If I can play devil's advocate. You don't know what you signed in your contract but it's signed and done and is most likely legally binding. You don't have a copy of the contract and you don't really know what's in there. If you go the lawyer route, he is going to ask for your copy of it. If you go to small claims the judge will ask for a copy. You might have texts of what they said or told you but what are you going to do when asked for a copy? Your contract is what matters. Either way good luck to you.
Opus Thanks this. -
TB John Thanks this.

What happened to the original at time of signing?
Did you never get a copy or did you lose yours? -
-
Not only did you not read it, you never got a copy to pretend that you read it.
Well, live and learn.rockeee Thanks this. -
Look, I understand you probably really needed a job, but you'd never buy a car, house or anything else like that. Should have walked right then. -
Solution:
Report them to the State Labor Commission where you were when you struck the contract, contract or not in hand the Labor Commission will place Financial Liens on not only their Corporate Assets but also their Personal Assets which will give you 1st position on their assets, meaning they won't be able to sell anything until they PAY YOU FIRST !, Then they normally pay you !
Speaking from Experience !
In Chicago you practically have to be at a Paralegal just to survive, otherwise you will get thrown to the wolves and eaten alive !
