Patience is the key in thick traffic in LA but when traffic is at a normal state or lighter state then it's a different story. I usually stay put in the third lane during rush hours unless I'm close to my exit then I'll get to the right. Another key thing is learning when, where, and the right time to make your lane changes regarding all the interchanges an when lanes end. I don't know how much time I've saved just knowing where you need to be lane wise in all the different areas. I've watched countless drivers including locals get hung up or forced on the shoulder cause they weren't paying attention. I just wish them local rock buckets would move to the right when they're barely going 53 in the #3 with no traffic an they get trucks sitting behind them that are going faster or can hold the hills. Countless times been stuck going 53-50 behind a local an have to wait for an opening an pass em on the right. Patience is key for LA though been out there 3-4 times a month for the last year. Its not that bad there once you get familiar with the area, like I tell the boss I'll take LA over the east coast any day any time.

Ya you haft to take in the numbers into account, for instance, California has a population of over 35 Million were most other states just have around 4.
As you will run into a lot more slowing drivers, trucks and cars both. As they're a lot more of them out there. It takes some getting used two.
Some people haft to deal with it every day, exceptance of having to deal with it in a sane professional manor.
I'm not taliking about your weekend warriors eighther. I'm talking about the people who wake up every day, cats who go through it two or three times a day.
I agree East Coast is worst and that crap ### tolls they got to put up with. Not mention the conjestion from the tolls themselves
Ya don't usually get over to the right lane until about one mile before my exit. Unless traffic really slow then I might go on a little farther as a mile seems a long way.Last edited: Nov 26, 2013
