They supposedly have their contract terminated if they go 30 days without turning in logs
That's harsh I couldn't imagine terming a driver because they didn't turn in "off duty" logs. Ouch! Yeah I am glad sounds like a head ache just keeping up with who is working though. I could see maybe the point in being a little stricter to submitting the logs. That would be the only contact in knowing the driver actually is still with the company "I guess".

I can go for about 2 months before I need to pull a load at most times.
Many of the retired haulers have a pension coming in.

I believe some were retired but there were many others that had trucks they used for farming , landscaping and other businesses . They'd come right off the other job and log off duty the past 7 days . -
You need to understand that you are not familiar with all of these drivers. Your posts have the tendency to degrade many of these drivers because of your incorrect opinions.
If you do not have proof of these allegations, you should not be making such accusations. -

So, this period made you an expert on the ways of everyone and the fact they can't go 30 days with out compensated income.
Not everyone has mortgages or rent. Some of us have their homes paid for and do not NEED to work live slaves to their home life.
