They supposedly have their contract terminated if they go 30 days without turning in logs

That's harsh I couldn't imagine terming a driver because they didn't turn in "off duty" logs. Ouch! Yeah I am glad sounds like a head ache just keeping up with who is working though. I could see maybe the point in being a little stricter to submitting the logs. That would be the only contact in knowing the driver actually is still with the company "I guess".

One reason for that is the carrier deducts their NTL insurance from their loads . If they don't show up for a month there is no revenue for the carrier to get the payment back from . But "Off Duty" for 3 or 4 weeks ? Who really believes these people went that long with no compensated income ? If FMCSA ever had access to IRS records a lot of people would be busted .

How are you to know the finances of many folks?

I can go for about 2 months before I need to pull a load at most times.

Many of the retired haulers have a pension coming in.

    Now, do you believe me?

Because I know you are wrong.

I just went 5 months without hauling a thing - a bit more than 30 days.

I believe some were retired but there were many others that had trucks they used for farming , landscaping and other businesses . They'd come right off the other job and log off duty the past 7 days .

Your previous comment leads one to believe that you do not feel that any of these haulers are filling out legal logs.

You need to understand that you are not familiar with all of these drivers. Your posts have the tendency to degrade many of these drivers because of your incorrect opinions.

If you do not have proof of these allegations, you should not be making such accusations.

So, this period made you an expert on the ways of everyone and the fact they can't go 30 days with out compensated income.

Not everyone has mortgages or rent. Some of us have their homes paid for and do not NEED to work live slaves to their home life.
