That is why you buy insurance, as a employee of his father he should have had workers comp, but probably was 1099.
Insurance is part of the cost of doing business but many don’t get it so they can make the numbers work.

Except in New Hampshire, unless you get into an accident.

good luck in trying to sue the owner of the horse. animals have been known to jump fences or knock them down. look at all the farm animals in the past that escaped from thier enclosures, practically in the news every day. so if this guy was hit by a deer or moose, he'd try suing who.>??

he if got hit by a meteor, he'd sue who?

crap happens, with or with out insurance, sucks to be him for not having any insurance.

    hard lesson learned.

i'm sure a "'go fund me page" will arise soon enough.

The horse owner should have insurance to cut a check for the bills. If they figured who shoed the horse they would figure who the owner is.

i think it was an "act of god" that the horse was there. you cannot predict what any animal will do. "acts of god" are usually not covered under insurance. like rioting, civil unrest, etc, etc.

The owner of the horse is responsible for his livestock. He is responsible for ensuring that his fences contain his livestock..... period. This is why you have insurance for your farm. This sort of stuff is covered by farm insurance. Its like homeowners but its for your farm, livestock etc.

Is FL open range law? If it is then both driver and horse owner are on their own.

I hope no one comes forward and the ifjut has to pay for it in full. He seems like he is goldbricking to me. Wants others to be responsible for his screwups.
