Yeah I get that, but in all my years of dealing with this, I have never seen one just fall off, rusty bolts or not, bolts just don't disintegrate ...

Ughhhhh this must be why we end up with so many #### trailers at work. That's just screwing the next guy like me who pretrips over. I have had nights where I have had to red tag several trailers before I can find one I wanna pull down the road.

I had messed up landing gear on a trailer just last week. The yard dogs had cranked them so far down that they were practically falling out of the barrels. I backed my truck up and the kingpin was almost a foot above my fifth wheel! The legs were actually tilted back at an angle, I suspect that one more full turn of the crank would have seen them falling off.

We had to get a yard dog to lift it up while we retracted the gear, it was impossible to get them to move with weight on them.

    FlaSwampRat and Lepton1 Thank this.

That's a low life move that screws the next guy, or could get a person hurt. Especially a fork lift driver.

Be a man and own your mistakes.

That's what's wrong with some people won't take responsibility. Then they wonder why drivers are looked down upon.

I can not imagine not noticing something like this, but I guess anything is possible. I have seen guys forget to raise them at all and take off.

I have seen them have loose bolts and wallow the holes out, but when that happens, there has always neen shiny metal, never actually seen one fall off from it either though.
