My husband and I will be starting at Landspan on the 25th. Since the JCT link was very informative, I wanted to start one for Landspan, since there is not that much info, negative or positive about the company.

We leave from Joplin, MO to Lakeland, FL to start our orientation. They are renting us a car to get there.

Here are some facts about pay. .35 split for teams w/o hazmat. With hazmat .41 split. If you have a dog, it is a $400 non-refundable which they take out in weekly payments. At the hotel (Holiday Inn) you will be charged a $50 deposit for animal. There is also a $250 per person truck deposit. Now that took me by surprise because it was never mentioned until we got our rental info. Won't know about health insurance until we get there.

I am excited about our new adventure in trucking. We were previously with Trailiner, but they raised their health insurance too high and so we tried to work at home. Which as you can see, didn't last. I guess the diesel is in our blood. Our goal now is to save as much money as we can and then try and get our own truck and work for ourselves.

We will keep this updated as much as time allows. We will also post our truck number so that if you see us, wave (use all fingers please) at us. We do keep the CB on but usually at a low volume. My husbands handle is Rattler and haven't found an appropriate one for me. We also have a pug and her name is Joplin.

Everyone have a fantastic weekend and we will see ya on the road. We are also part of a Motorcyle Ministry group called Covenant, One in the Son and we occasionally fly our cuts on the road.

I am going to assume the truck deposit is like a cleaning deposit? She said if we ever leave we would get that back.

We also got our time off pre-approved so that we can make it to MATS this year!

I wouldn't count on your "pre-approved" time off. You haven't even started orientation yet....

not going to count on our time off since we haven't really started yet but one can hope.

jtrnr, actually yes but they didn't have any team openings and wouldn't allow dogs. So we had to look elsewhere.

    jtrnr1951 Thanks this.

well first day is done. There was only one other couple so it went pretty smoothly. Got some paperwork to fill out, passed the driving and drug test.. and we studied too :D

Tomorrow is more paperwork and some policies to go over and then after that is done I get to see my sister, which I haven't seen in over 5 years.
