Seen it many times. Meanwhile putting on like a one man band carrier is a risk of double brokering. What a contradiction.

I don't get the Landstar thing. @blairandgretchen and @OldMan . I've been hauling for them recently, and I'm getting almost three bucks a mile. If they're double brokering, they aren't skimming much.

It's not all of their agents. There are good ones, and bad ones. Had a Landstar stepdeck bail me out on a hot load today. Had a Landstar agent double broker me last year. Had another two reposting my loads in the last month. (I can see when the jerks put it on DAT.) I've used Landstar for OS/OW. Those guys were solid. Guys who bailed me out tonight were professional as all hell.

It's all about the agents you deal with.

I second this. There are good, and bad. You just have to learn.

When the rates were up this summer where you could get 1200-1700 depending on how bad they needed it moved, on 200-250 miles.

LS had salt loads coming out of Cargill in Lansing NY (Ithaca area) to Port Chester about 245 miles. They had a low ball 900 listed and under comments said; rate firm. Meanwhile they prob had it for 1500 or better

My dad ran a 238 with a 10 speed for a few years alongside his 1971 237 F model. He only used the Jimmy moving empty containers around lol

I drove an R-model for a bit that had one of those 237's. You didn't go anywhere too fast with a load of logs behind you. :biggrin_25523:

What year? Everyone said the old 2 valve maxidyne pulled way better than 4v. The 4v heads came out in early 80s 82-84 maybe. My dad's 237 had the pump turned up with a bigger turbo and it would out pull the 300 maxi and the cummins 290-350s. He had another 237 in a U model and said it wasn't nearly as strong as the old F model

Well, if I remember right the truck was '88, the engine was '79.
