I’ve chatted with about 5 or 6 Landstar drivers over the last year. All of them happy and doing well. A young guy, was the last I chatted with, he seemed to have his stuff together. Showed up at the shipper with a clipboard and everything nicely organized. We started chatting and I asked him about Landstar and what he thought of it and how he was doing.
He laughed and said “I’m 25 years old, I worked fast food before I went into trucking, I’m going to make about $190,000 this year and that’s after all my expenses. How do you think I’m doing?” Lol
I drive harder than him, I’ll make about $60,000. Course I don’t have the skin in the game he does owning his own truck.
Landstar is "son'ing" Owner Operators

Landstar definitely needs a lot more people doing ODOS work.

Id say he was lying through his teeth. OTOH, he could be on that super special 50 dollars a mile hauling nitro gylcerine account that no one ever talks about....bumper Jack and 48Packard Thank this.

All lies. I'll start my sixth year in June. You have to be on the road 360 days a year just to make a few dollars and live in your truck with your furry.
Son.
D.Tibbitt, JolliRoger, stevep1977 and 4 others Thank this. -
OK if he was lying or exaggerating, why wouldn’t he just go become a company driver and make 60 to 80,000 a year?
-
Probably driving record ruined by Landstarve and he can't get on with a quality mega carrier.
-
No idea. He is still young so maybe he just doesnt have any other life and never goes home. At 69 years old I have heard my share of exaggerations thats all.bumper Jack Thanks this.
