In the adult world we understand that life is rarely fair. People will try to take advantage of us if it is in their interest to do so. What you have to do is make sure they understand that you understand what they are doing to you. They you can respond by either taking it or not taking it. If land star has been a bad experience for you then walk away and go find a better life. Personally, I have had no experience with land star as they first told me I was signed on but then told me no. Rather then spend time crying over it I signed on with another company. Hopefully that will work out.

I've been with Landstar 1 year and have gotten detention many times. Usually at a very good rate. I don't want to be getting detention. I prefer to make my money off running miles.

If your asked to wait(for me anything over 3 hours) I ask about detention and then a new freight bill.....if for whatever reason they don't pay I'll make the call as to whether it'll be better for me to wait or move on to another load. Agents can't make you wait if there is no $ to do so.

LS also won't let you bail out on a load anytime you want. It not like you can say I'm not getting detention so I'm not taking the load. Once it assigned to your truck you have to take it. LS does not care if you get detection pay.

I have consistently gotten detention pay. As was said before the agent will make out a separate freight bill for the detention. Once Landstar gets the money from the customer that's when the payment is made to the contractor.

I'm just saying you are relying on the good will of the customer. LS won't pay anything. Even if agent say they will pay you then does not, their is no paper trail. Because it was agreed to over the phone
