Ok, moved a load Monday delivered it Tuesday. Got the receivor to sign the BOL. 3 days later called Jacksonville to find out why I hadn't got paid. It was because the receivor signed the BOL on the "consignor" line. I said there isn't a line on the BOL for a "consignee". Landstar said we have to have a signed BOL before we can pay.
It took me 15 minutes to draw a line on the BOL "received by" FAX it over to the receivor get him to sign it again with the same signignor and FAX it back to me.
I had this problem once before because the delivered load had "shipping " papers on the delivery. Landstar sail it has to be a bill of lading.
Ok, so maybe Landstar is having some problems getting paid for loads, why don't they call someone if there is a problem with paying you.

I have never had any issue with Landstar paying me, as long as paperwork is submitted properly.
But I never ran into this. I have the BOL signed and dated but no where specific on the BOL.
Using quickpay, the money is funded within 48hrs of Landstar's receipt of my bill.
In fact, they are one of the more reliable companies that pay me....
BigBadBill and DragonDriver305 Thank this. -
I did'nt think it mattered on the BOL where the customer signs it as long as it's sign. could be an excuse for not paying you,who knows. From now on make sure its on the consignor line and readable. If not have him sign it again.Knowing landstar the next excuse will be they can't make out the name.Having him print his name as well would'nt hurt either.

It happens. You will look at them more closely now before you take off, right? LOL
I had that happen at a Walmart DC just last week. They put their receiving stamp on but did not check received in full or sign it. All I had to do was return to the window and ask. Receiver came right up and filled it out. She just forgot. -
easy, make an x on the bill, draw a straight line away from the x, write received by underneath and have em sign. pretty much gets it taken care of

I write on all my bol/pods Received date and a big X then have receiver sign and print that way theres no mistaking it.
I also use a heavy flow black pen anything else may not show on a fax esspecially carbonated paper.
Several of the big ones are funny about pod'sdriverdriver Thanks this. -
One thing you can do is get one of those self inking rubber stamps made at a copy / graphics shop that has all the information on it:
RECEIVED BY:
SIGNATURE:
DATE:
DOCK:
PO NUMBER:
Or any other pertinent info you can think of - then when it is some kind of barely legible 3rd sheet of a carbon copy that you know the shipper / broker is is going to have an issue with then hopefully all the info is one spot in writing. Like McGoo said a good heavy flow black pen works great.BigBadBill Thanks this. -
Its like for 98% of the Landstar loads I run with no problems, but then there is the %2 that jerks you around getting paid. Has anyone ever looked closely to a standard blank BOL form? There is no line for the "consignee" (the receivor) !!!!
Consignor is the shipper. I think the AL broker was either very new at this business and didn't know, or just wanted to be difficult about it and have a flag put up against paying it by Jacksonville.
So I have poured $300.00 in fuel to move the shipment, and now with the holiday it will take at least another two days to get paid for the shipment, for a total of 9 days to get my $300.00 back. Truck keeps running, fuel keeps burning, and the money sometimes catches up with all the daily cost. -
