I've spoken with a few Landstar drivers and none of them tell me that they're going broke or are miserable. Some of them don't seem to have a lot of the ball and I'll ask them what they're making per week. The last guy told me 2400. I plan to go there as soon as I can afford a decent truck.

Its hard to say what you will net, that will depend on way to many factors to compare what you will do to what someone else does or did, I only like comparing gross numbers because the gross number is the same for everyone( if you have your on trailer you will get more money), and its easier to compare.
New truck or old truck? Do you run short miles for high rates, or long hauls for cheaper rates? Do you run north in the winter to chase good rates, or stay south of I-40 to stay warm? There are a ton of different factors, I'm at ls and I know some guys who grossed north of $180,000, and some who didn't even break $100,000. as to what they will net, not sure its not really accurate to compare net incomes because the guy who grossed 180, has a 2014 truck with a payment, never goes home and does a lot of high dollar show freight ad runs wherever the freight goes, and the guy under 100 has a older payed for truck, is home every weekend, supper picky with freight only runs a few states, and does not try to haul heavy loads. But ls teds to deal i some specialized freight and if you are willing to run it you will make good money.blairandgretchen, Lepton1 and whoopNride Thank this. -

I was wondering the net pay on a per truck basis not a net pay for every truck combined.

Is there an average net pay at ls? Maybe, but it's a well guarded state secret.
whoopNride and OOwannaBE Thank this. -
You are very clearly are stuck in a company mindset. Company drivers have constants. This company pays X per mile with a Y raise after one year. Its the same for everybody. That doesn't happen on the O/O side. If you can't figure that out, you probably better stick with a company job.blairandgretchen, sawmill, whoopNride and 3 others Thank this. -
Sadly, you are the one confused. I am too busy right now to break it down to a third grade level explanation for you.

A hard worker who doesn't need to get home will net roughly $94,712 a year. Now if you have a blowout, a load cancellation, a snow storm or 3 that's slows everything down, a bad dot inspection that forces you to repair something at the scale, or just get into a bad area a few times then you'll net roughly $79,694. Now if you have a engine that decides it needs an inframe then you'll be around $61,265. Now if you.........
