We all know how hard it is to find people that give out correct helpful information. They say that five drivers in a room means five different opinions, after 22 years I can tell you with out a doubt that its a fact. Having at least a few members that have a track record of supplying solid information is important to the FNG's and is really in short supply not only here but on other trade forums.

I'm sure you're right. I always use a cover sheet, I just must have been zoning out when we were told to put the mileage sheet under Fuel envelope. I've been sending mine misc. all this time. I'll start putting it where it belongs. I'll probably surprise the people at corporate lol.

If you're using DirectScan, a coversheet is unnecessary. Mileage sheet is under fuel envelope, as you used to have to list your fuel on there as well.

If your truck brakes down will L/S help you with the repairs if you do not have the cash for them and take it out of your settlements

I have heard that they sometimes will if you have been here a year or more but I wouldn't count on it.

After 90 days your eligible for a repair loan, the amount is based on your earnings and ability to pay,I think there is a 6k limit but that might be negotiable depending on your situation. They want to be sure your numbers are strong enough that you can pay the loan off quickly without putting yourself out of business. The loans are short term and there is an 18% interest rate added on. I had to have my radiator replaced on the road, the bill came to 2100.00 I took a repair loan and Im paying it back over 7 weeks.

If you plan on going with Landstar you can check their public loadboard at www.landstarbroker.com. It will give you an idea of what is available. They have a different internal loadboard for their BCO's (owner operators). Their internal loadboard should have more loads listed, but is only visible by BCO's or those with a password. Landstar will often print out a "snapshot" out of a particular area and fax or email it to you. Check with recruiting or call the corporate office in Jacksonville. Keep in mind that it is only a snapshot for a single time and date and could vary from day to day. You should not have much of a problem finding freight out of South Carolina, depending on the type of freight that you are looking. You can also check with any of their BCO's who might have their laptop open in a truck stop and looking for a load. Most will be willing to do a quick search for you.
