So the people taking these loads are basically leveraging against their more abstract expenses such as maintenance fund or other areas that aren't absolutes but still figured in their cost per mile?

Also I guess those with paid-off trucks have a lot more flexibility as well since replacement is also a leverageable expense to get through winter.

    Am I right?

    kansas city to miami fl = 1464 paid miles x $2.30 = $3,367.20

actual miles is = 1610 actual miles

miami fl to saginaw ga (deadhead) is = 463 (not paid)

saginaw ga to kansas city mo is = 1020 paid miles x $1.00 = $1,020.00

actual miles are is = 1122 actual miles

total up all actual miles = 3195 all total miles....

loads paid = 4,387.20 to the truck...

fuel cost at 6.0 (avg) mpg = 532 gallons used

    532 x (avg) 2.30 = $1224.75

    landstar cut of 35 % = 4,387.20 x 65 % = 2,851.68 to truck so far..

    2,851.68 - 1,224.75 = 1,626.93 to the truck so far...

    1,626.93 - 500.00(weekly expences) = 1,126.93

now take gross to truck divide by all miles...

    Deduct 10% for maintence account

    $1,126.93 - 10% =112.69

    1,126.93 - 112.69 = 1,014.23

    1,014.23 - 112.69 = 1,014.23 grand total....

    1,014.23 divide by all miles 3195 =

.31 per mile for your labor

It don't matter at this point..Everyone is cutting throat in da rat race...

Not enough freight to go around, what's left is terrible cheap...

To many people at landstar cutting throats on everyone.

Again,to many drivers(10,000 at landstar) and freight today is 2,600 loads in the nation to be pulled..

The shippers own us at this point. They call the rate.If ya don't want it,someone else will take it..

    Agents are giving quote's for
    $1.00 a mile.

DO NOT BUY A TRUCK AT THIS POINT...WAIT A YEAR OR SO AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS..PEOPLE ARE LOSING THERE AZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The thing you got to remember with Landstar is,

They will not take care of you. You need to take care of yourself. When they say all the freedom, they mean it.

They are the best of the worst. They let you keep more money than everyone else, however you need to find the money first.

Yes, over 75% of the agents are crooked. Landstar tells you this in orientation.

Make the most of the opportunity that you have, were ever that may be.

Just curious, where do you get these figures from?

I'd like to know if you don't mind?

    Thanks

My agent has a ''program'' of how many loads are in the whole nation every day.

    He tells me this info..

He also has a program, that we bco's do not have that tells him what ''crooked agents'' are pushing the most loads out of any given lane or place you be at...

You would be very surprised of what these ''agents'' have that we don't...

This is going on other places as well. The agent does not put the load on the company board. He puts it on truck stop board and cuts off fuel-surcharge and an extra percentage. Thieves. This should be illegal.

Your right it should be illegal! But the problem isn't just these agents its the small O/O with their own rights who are hauling it!

Sorry, but if you don't deal direct with the shippers whats the point in having your own rights? After you figure it all out those guys are probably making less than guys leased on to a company.
