yea, I had a rubber hose blow out for some reason on my Air to air today, I pulled to the shoulder, set my triangles out, called road service, then called safety and let them know I was on the side of the highway.....they took my truck number and said OK be safe.....

underlying issue or just one of those things that happen????

I carry a spare with clamps, as the only time it's happened to me was on I81 near Hazleton, PA, loaded. I used several heater hose clamps put together to get out of the situation. I changed everything out when I blew that clamp. It's just one of those things.

After the winter we had I think we are going to see a lot of issues show up. I was losing coolant and some things pointed to a head gasket, but other things didn't add up. Turned out it was the aireator return line that runs along the top of the head. It's basically rubber and plastic and the winter didn't do my engine much good. I also had to replace all the batteries and fan belts. During one of the polar plunges I spent 8 hours on the side of the road unable to build air pressure. The valve on the air dryer froze open, then sitting and idling for heat and so the truck wouldn't totally freeze up the air governor had to be replaced also. Wisconsin state police weren't nearly as worried about the truck sitting as my health. Told me if anything happened that I lost heat call 911 right away.
Just another reason to go to Landstar. If it had been up to me, I would have headed south for the winter. -
If it's any consolation, this is the first winter I've really worked since I've been here. I bought, gutted, and refinished my house last year and took August and September off to do it. Still catching up. Having a surprisingly strong 1Q helped dramatically though. I doubt I'll be north of Nik's house next winter. Intrastate FL is my winter specialty.

One things that actually works great to make sure that your CAC or air to air boots are sealed very tight is simple. Clean them very good with a little degreaser, then use a little bit of hairspray on them to give it a little bit of a stickiness. Works great and wont ruin your boots, I know guys that have stock boots on there compound setups on diesel pickups running 65+psi of boost and don't have a problem. Sometimes, its just one of those things though!

Ya I spent my entire winter in warm weather dispatching myself on freight that avoided all that nasty weather. Of course there were more BCO's like me in the warm climate than freight but most veteran BCO's tell me winter is the best time to vacation. The freight is definitely excellent now and its not even the busy season.

The sad part is too many others consider you their competition! That is why I say you need to specialize here and not just be another Door swinger or chain thrower.milskired Thanks this.

So can people tell me the big differences between Lamdstar and Mercer? I've been trying to pick them out, but so far it almost seems like just a different name on the door.
