They're doing that for CARB compliance...they want to make sure you aren't trying to sneak an old engine into CA.

What info do they need about the engine?

I was told they require a picture of the stickers on the engine showing the engine family number.

Does Landstar have a service where they figure out your IFTA for you?

    Yes.
Are you asking the trailer questions because you want to join Landstar?
You need a newer trailer if so.

Yes, it will cost you $4 a month and they figure it out based on the miles tracked off your Qualcomm.

I asked on the landstar forum if landstar has age or cosmetic standards and was told no. You're saying they do?

I've seen some "WOW " tractors, I've yet to an old trailer that's owned by a BCO.
I know they will finance a new one for you, I think at a discount as well, with like no interest.
You don't want your own trailer. So much is pre loaded. Until you are here, and see what it's like, I think you'd be making a big mistake getting your own trailer.
The load I just did, was live load out & would work well with an owned trailer. The load back however, you could put in an owned trailer, but you would probably lose the better part of a day getting it loaded, maybe all day. I was in and back on the road in 35 minutes.

Just trust me on this. Dumb rube that knows nothing about nothing, see if you can survive here first.

    RStewart Thanks this.
