I called them Friday and Barbara told me everything looked ok they are just waiting on YRC to respond with my work history. She say it takes a little while because they have to do it by mail and some companies take their time responding

Problem with the reefer is that most of the loads on LS board are dry vanloads. Flatbed and step pay more. LS haven’t really gone whole hog into the reefer thing yet. ( If you can find dedicated reefer freight then good on you.) I see reefer drivers but they are mostly hauling LTL or dry van.
But every single load on LS board is negotiable. EVERY LOAD!

I can easily see why some drivers (O/O’s) are unhappy with LS. They loads just don’t pay what they used to and there are far less loads now. But it’s the same everywhere.

My opinion is still not to join LS until freight picks up. You’ll be hauling for near free and starving yourself and your truck.

When there is freight here it’s great. But right now it’s the pits.

So,yes I lost my butt Heavy and not just that,I lost my freedom from banks and I gain my freedom from LANDSTAR,that is the best freedom a ever have in my life time, owning close to $50.000 on bills thanks to your piece of crap agents(looks like your nouse is brown) and at the same time I starve my familie includind a 8 year old child. At this time, all I have to do,pick up the phone a make a phone call to the dispach and here we go,my $3000 gross pay slip its in my mail box every single weekend, and home just about every day, including no weekends and no holliday work.So go ahead, and tell people the real story about L/S and their game.Don't forget to mention how they make you to pull free load or cheap ones and how is it to sit in a parking lot with your stupid load alert on,and when you make the call for that load, the agent will answer to you very nice "that load its gone" but they might have another one for less money.Don't forget one think,I was with them for over a year,so plenty unplesant surprieses.Any other person, need more information, just ask.My advise to anybody, stay away from L/S at this time, but if the economie its gooing back, might be a different story.Good luck to all of you, looking for a better place to make good money, and don't forget, the economie its gooing at this time only up,the worst is far behinde,if that tell you something.

I think to be successful at L/S you should at least be able to spell words correctly and have decent grammar. Just a thought.

I can't imagine some of these people that spell and use the grammar they do being successful anywhere. It's best for them to just be a steering wheel holder.

You said a mouthful. :biggrin_25514: I love it here at LS. I pull a flat. It is a little slow but things seem to be picking up. No one here is going to hold your hand. If you need someone to motivate you or tell you what to do this is not the place for you. I have NEVER been forced to pull a free or cheap load. LS is what you make it.

Now if i read this correct which is hard by the way. You loss everything you had, sit at home everyday, weekends and holidays. You gross was $3000 a week, you starved your family and you still could not pay your bills. And this is the agents fault.

I have tried to read this several times, and it makes me want to stab my eyeballs out with hot pokers. No wonder you failed! You not only have to be a good negotiator and build relationships at L/S but also be a good business person. Obviously, you are not capable of doing any of those things which, I'm sure...is why you failed at L/S.

L/S is a good company and it is what you make of it.

I agree that was a hard read, but as a business you cannot haul cheap freight, that to me explains why a business may sit their trucks till a profitable load comes along. accusing someone for sitting and not being able to support the home front is'nt right, unless you know all the story.

He just told the story I didn't accuse nobody of nothing he said ("and at the same time I starve my familie includind a 8 year old child") and Landstar have other successful drivers using the same agents go figure Its a business if you are looking just to be a driver company truck is the way to go Owner Operators have to run a business and I admire them for being able to do it. But in his cast it sound like he is trying to blame his faults on someone else

Right, it's a business and you have to run it as such. It's a lot of math involved and smart business sense. It has a high failure rate because some people just can't budget what it takes to live and save for breakdowns/maintenance and such. It's just not for everyone. People that just want to drive and get a paycheck every week should not work for L/S. You can make a lot there...or a little. You have to build the relationships and use good negotiation skills to do well. Some people like it, some don't.
